Morning one and all! Well I think Wednesdays have become tutorial day here at The Cottage Market! So today I bring you a very simple project that has a million and one combinations! I just picked the Chevron Stripe because it POPS. Optical illusions ALWAYS fascinate me and I think that the Chevron Stripe has a lot of those qualities. I also think that a solid white or black wrapping paper would just adore this combination! Of course there are a million and one patterns that you can use! Hope you have fun finding you combination!
Let’s begin!
Supplies:
To start you will need wooden cut outs. To create a dimensional tag you need two different sizes…I chose to use the same shape in differing sizes but you can use any combination that your little heart desires! Like I said…the possibilities are endless. Stars would be fabulous for the holidays! You will also need your favorite ribbon, glue, hot glue, paint, brush, chalkboard paint (can or spray…your choice) and the decorative paper of your choice! All of these shapes are available at your local craft store!
The first step is to lightly sand your wooden pieces and then base coat them black…that way your sides will be nice and clean and pretty!
Then spray your tags with your chalkboard paint…each coat should be light and completely dry before the next spray…I do it three times with a light sand on the second coat. I know they look yucky here but they smooth out and are just perfect when you are done!
Now you take your background wooden piece and trace it onto your decorative paper and then cut it out…
Now simply apply the paper to the shape with your favorite glue…let dry completely and…
and then sand the sides till you get a nice clean edge all the way around…the sand paper removes any little unwanted edges. you can touch up with a bit of black paint wash if you like.
Now it is time to take out your favorite power tool…the drill! Rev it up and drill where you would like to place the holes for ribbon stringing!
EZ PZ!!!
Now here are a few steps all in one…glue your chalkboard in the center of your larger piece and then string your ribbon through. Of course you can decorate to your hearts content…this time I went for simple and classic but I will be doing some that are a bit over the top!
A simple tag that can be used for ANYTHING! Then of course you can change your mind and give it a new title!
A blank canvas but here’s and idea…
A perfect little Holiday Ornament and you can change the year every year!
This is a much larger tag that you can use on baskets…jars…toy chests…crafting containers…just about anything! Here’s an idea…
You can fill a jar with yummy vanilla sugar (recipe in this blog) and label it…perfect gift for anyone!
Hope you have fun with this…grab your favorite paper and shapes and have tons of fun…create a packaging look all of your own! Match your decor and label away…one thing is a must…ENJOY!
Hope you all have a fabulous day! Remember…you still have time to leave a comment on the thankful post…you can find it by clicking onto the top button on the blog that says Thankful for my Followers! Tomorrow I will let you know who wins the first Thankful GiveAway!
Sending tons of HUGS to all…
