Good Morning one and all. I will tell you one thing it is ccccold here in New Jersey and Basil is all snugged in his blankie on the couch after taking his meds. I promised an update and it looks like we are improving. He had his nebulizer treatment yesterday and he is going back today and tomorrow…then he will have another
x-ray. Thank you ALL for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers and I will give you a new update soon…Doxie Hugs to you!
Now I have a little tutorial for you…it is simple and you can use whatever you have in the house to create one…so I hope you have fun. Joe brought home this little bottle…nothing special but I was just holding it at my desk and then started playing around…it had no stopper and I saw a pretty finial that I had gotten from a little pack at Michaels and fit it in and it worked perfectly…then I picked up a ring (the adjustable ones) and opened it a bit and popped it on the neck…instant bling! (So if you have some of those costume jewelry rings…here’s another use for them! So I took it a little step further and from a $.10 bottle I got something very pretty by adding some pretty things that I had. Stay tuned for part 2 coming in a few days…more ideas for the bottle ring bling!
Bottle with a bit of bling!
All you need is a bottle (with a thinner neck)
some decorative buttons (these are from Michaels but you can use any pretty buttons…resin flowers…skies the limit)
a wooden finial (available at Michaels or Joannes) a 2 inch wooden circle or you could make one from paper card stock…that would be really pretty…a pretty finding and a ring base. Of course you need paint in your favorite color, a bit of glitter and glue.
now it is time to paint the wooden pieces in the color of your choice…
take a little piece of sand paper and shabby them up a bit or a bit more if you like…then I topped the finial with a bit of gold glass glitter for a bit of pizzaz…
simply glue the ornaments of you choice to the ring finding and the flat finding…
now for the finishing touches…open up the back of your ring and pop onto the neck of your bottle (this is so cool because you can change it any time for a new look!) place the finial on top…attach the center decoration…
and viola…a pretty bottle…drab to fab…
add a little drama and height with a glass candlestick as a base…perfect for a vignette…
simple and elegant…
so easy right? I hope this got you to look at those little bits hanging around in a different way…those little rings that you once loved to wear but not so much now…well give them a second life…use your imagination and what you have in your little stashes (we all have them that is for sure!) create and have fun…when you add your touches I am sure you will have a new masterpiece…there is so much talent out there! One thing you must do is…
ENJOY and Have FUN!!!!

I love how there is always SOMETHING we can do to tweak, decorate, and improve things that SEEM useless. Makes me think again about letting my family throw out all our old trinkets…
