Is there ever a bad time to make a batch of piping HOT Soft Pretzels? Um…the answer would be NO!!! Believe me there is NO reason not to make these scrumptious morsels of yumminess! They are quick…easy and delicious….so fear not…you can have a batch of these ready to put in the over in about an hour! Really! 6 minutes to whip up the dough…45 minutes to raise and then 10 minutes to roll and twist…then it is time to pop them in the oven…it’s that SIMPLE!!!!

- 1 tsp. of salt
- 1 tsp. of sugar
- 1 package of active dry yeast (1/4oz) fast rising or regular will work fine
- 1 cup warm water plus about 3 more tablespoon

- 1/8 cup of warm water and 2 tsp. baking soda
- 3 tbsp. of butter (your choice…they taste yummy with or without!)

Do you bake at 500 as well, or is this just what you preheat to before shutting the oven off so the dough can rise?
Yvette says
At what temp do you bake them?
500 degrees?
I’d love to try them but need this important info.
Please and thank you!
Andrea says
Hi Yvette! You bake them at 500 degrees. Have a great night! ~ Take Care ~ Andrea
Terry says
HI…These look great and I want to make for crowd…How many pretzels will this make? Thanks for any info!
lily says
Hi, I put the baking soda in the dough! Will it still turn out okay??
Andrea says
Oh I so hate to tell you this…but I don’t think that it is going to work. The baking soda is a wash…the combination of yeast and baking soda is going to change the taste drastically. I wish I could tell you differently…but I think you are going to have to start from scratch again. I wish you the best of luck and if there is anything else you need to know…I am here for you! Take care…

Such a great recipe – thanks so much for sharing it! Mine were tasty but a little on thick side (so I called them rolls and will make then a little skinnier next time). By popular demand I will definitely be making them again!

Andrea says
That is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Awesome! it’s good to be Queen : ) Sending wishes to you and yours for an amazing New Year! Tons of hugs!
Rebecca says
I have made it two weeks in a row already, it’s super easy to make. But I can’t get the soda wash right. My pretzels always have a bit of visible baking soda on the pretzels. What am I doing wrong? Is the wash not warm enough?
Andrea says
Hi there! How are you. So glad they are easy and yummy…that’s a good thing! I think your problem is is that you are not dissolving the baking soda long enjoy. Use extremely hot water…stir until totally combined and then brush the coating on with a soft paint brush (you know…the ones in the dollar store or even the sponge ones : ) that gives i a nice even coat with no residue. PLEASE let me know if that helps ok! You take care now and have an amazing day…hugs…
Cindy says

Jeanne Boucher says
Can I put all of this in a bread machine and knead. Thank you.
Rhonda says
Would it work ok to make the dough the night before, and if so, what would you suggest for keeping it overnight? Thanks can’t wait to make these!
