What is Take 5 you ask…well it is a collection of 5 things that I think you will all enjoy! It can be themed…random…food…crafts…home decor and everything in between. Hopefully you will love them enough to take 5 minutes out of your busy day… relax and enjoy! Today’s it is all about a
Touch of Cottage Pink!
Do you sometimes wish there was just a little touch of pink in a sweet room. You know…you are not looking to be overwhelmed by the color…just some delicate touches that add so much gentleness to a space? Well I have a really easy…quick and fun suggestion…how about decoupage.
I searched HIGH and low for some very pretty examples that I thought would give you a bit of inspiration. Sure hope you enjoy them…let’s take a look…
How about finding a perfect little piece of new or vintage furniture and painting it in a pale beautiful pink and then decoupage just the right amount of wonderful images onto the piece…you can use decorative papers cut to perfection…printed images…even waterslide decals. If you do it just right you will have a piece that will steal the show in any room! Of course this applies to ANY color : )
I am not an overly ornate person…but this little piece featured here is something that I would love to try…a room can handle one star…don’t you think : )
How sweet is this little light…you can get a plain glass shade light just about anywhere and then convert it into a cottage beauty…make it an original…it will bring you light and smiles! Over at Country Living you will find some great tips and a DIY for the technique! Once again…this method can be used for any pattern or theme! Have fun!
Pick yourself up a plain clock! It could be wood…china…even acrylic…once you are done with it it will look fabulous no matter what! Have your way with your decoupage supplies and you will make time stand still with the beauty you create!
Ok…not many of us have this perfectly plastered wall with the peeling chips and age…but if you are so lucky…a bit of strategically placed decals or paper roses decoupaged onto the wall will surely add that romantic and dramatic touch in the room…the wall is your blank canvas…make it say what you feel. Oh yes…you can decoupage a complimentary wood bowl…the possibilities are endless!
Here’s an easy one…simply take some plain terracotta pots…wash them with creamy paint or any color of choice and then apply an applique…decal…decoupage paper or you can even add some hand painted flowers. These look wonder as they are featured here…acting as beautiful supply storage for a painting studio…but they will also look perfect with plants…fresh flowers…kitchen organizers…centerpieces and so much more…just a very sweet touch which brings that cottage charm to the room.
These are fun and inexpensive ways to bring a little bit of romantic cottage charm into a room! Think about all the other objects you can use to experiment your artistic talents on! The one key is…take your time…don’t rush…smooth everything out for a delightful look. There is no mountain you can’t climb : )
If you are looking for some tips and techniques on decoupage…I have a few here for you!
That should get you started and there are plenty more on google!
So there you have it…a little bit of cottage inspiration! Would love to see what you create!
