Does you doggie love the Summer Months…playing…splashing in a kiddie pool…hanging out with the family at picnics! Some times does your pup get a bit overheated? A cool way for your canine friends to beat the heat is with a yummy…Pupsicle! Yep…one of these Assorted Dog Popsicles will be perfect for your pup! PLEASE NOTE: I made these pupsicles for my pups and they were made to be held by us …not to be given to the dogs to eat on their own. We find that it takes a lot longer and they really enjoy them this way. If you are going to give your pup the popsicle UNSUPERVISED…PLEASE either use no stick and put in a bowl or use a milk bone instead of a stick. We don’t want any accidents to happen : )Â
There are so many flavor combinations that are wonderful for your pooch!
Each flavor is soooooooo easy to make you won’t believe it!
I bet your pup is going to love them all! I am also sure you will come up with tons of other combinations……just remember …no chocolate! If you are EVER in doubt of what your pup can not eat…please check out this detailed list of dangerous foods.
Now here is the Easy Recipes for you. They take about 5 minutes and of course freezing time…someone is going to get tons of slobbery kisses and wow are those tails going to be waggin!
Peanut Butter Pupsicle:
16 ounces of Greek Plain or Vanilla Yogurt (Non Fat)
1/2 cup of all natural peanutbutter
1 tablespoon of honey
(if you have a banana that is nice and ripe…they makes a GREAT addition to this flavor)
Place the ingredients into the blender…puree them (about 20 seconds) and then pour into ice cube trays for small treats but if you want larger ones…pour the mixture into little dixie cups…place in the freezer for about and hour and then add the stick for supervised eating …for those pups that will be eating these on their own …add a doggie treat bone and then let them chill for at least 4 hours …peel and serve!
Fruit Pupsicle:
16 ounces of Greek Plain or Vanilla Yogurt (Non Fat)
1 cup of DOG FRIENDLY FRUITS like blue berries…strawberries…bananas…NEVER EVER Grapes or Raisins…Remember Check the list of harmful foods to be sure.
1 tablespoon of honey
Follow the directions in the first Pupsicle.
It is also fun to put some whole fruit into the pop like a few blueberries for some fun texture and taste!
Pumpkin Pupsicle:
16 ounces of Greek Plain or Vanilla Yogurt (Non Fat)
1 cup of pumpkin
2 tablespoons of honey
Whip a tablespoon of honey into your yogurt mixture or you can even make the peanut butter mixture to use with this pop
whisk a tablespoon of honey into your cup of canned pumpkin (NOT Pumpkin Pie Mixture…plain solid pumpkin) By the way…Pumpkin is great for the puppy tummy!
Now place a layer of the pumpkin into the dixie cup and then fill the rest with your yogurt mixture for a two layer pop. You can also blend the honey…yogurt and pumpkin all together and pour!
There are so many varieties you can make…just make sure they blend is safe for your pup or pups! I love adding a hand full of rice krispies into the mixture right before pouring the pops for some crunch…or how about another low sugar cereal or your doggies favorite dog yummy crushed! You can also make pupsicles by freezing broths! Whatever you choose a wagging tail is going to happen!!!
Don’t forget you can always half the recipes if you would like! If you are not going to use them the same day…just pup them into baggies! They stay for a few weeks with no problem…but they won’t last that long. By the way…they are delicious for you too! : )

Please remove the stick. My sister lost her beloved german shepard because of a bowel obstruction caused by a wooden popsicle stick.
Andrea says
Dear Jeanie…you are very right…we use the stick because we hold the pop for our dogs so they can enjoy them slowly…we never give them it with a stick. I have highlighted this in the post so no one makes this mistake. PLEASE make ice cubes if your dog it not supervised while eating or use a milkbone instead of the stick. My heart bleeds for that poor dog and your whole family…sending hugs an prayers and a candle will be lit for him tonight… one thing I know is that he is in good company. Thank you Jeanie…we all have to KEEP OUR DOGS SAFE!!!!!
