Friends…today it is with a very heavy…broken heart…I have to tell you that we lost our precious Basil on Wednesday morning. What started as pancreatitis 2 months ago (supposedly gone) started to rear it’s ugly head…but what it was was a rare blood cancer. What it did in the course of less than a week is plain and simple a sin…I don’t understand how it can happen or why. We as a family are besides ourselves and in disbelief. The one thing is that Basil went to the heavens with all of us and went peacefully…we could not be selfish and put him through another thing that was not going to help just to keep him with us…that was the hardest decision anyone of us had to make. He now is with his Precious Poppa whom you all know well…running free at the Rainbows Bridge with our band of angels…waiting to see us again. He takes a piece of our heart with him and our hearts will be whole when we are all together again. Please send thoughts and prayers to our little angel. Then there is one more thing…PLEASE HUG your pets EVERY DAY…as MANY times as you can…always let them know they are loved…treat them special because they deserve it…make their lives special…they love you beyond your wildest imagination! Some people think we as a family are over the top…My wish that it wasn’t seen as over the top…just as they way it should be. They are special gifts and we are so very lucky to be a part of their lives. It’s a gift that will be treasured forever and a day. Share your love with pets that are not as fortunate as yours…consider opting to adopt. There will be a blog post in the next few months about my precious Pops and Basil and what paw prints they left on this earth and will leave again…Hugs to you all and give your pets a Million and ONE hugs and kisses from all of us in the Cammarata Family…much love to you all.

I’m so very sorry to hear about your loss of Basil. We are such dog lovers and have had so many over the years. The joy and unconditional love they bring can’t even be measured. But when we’ve lost them, one by one, we were losing a member of our family and everyone shed tears along the way. It’s so heartbreaking and I know your grief all too well. I’m so sorry about Basil. It’s sad that our canine babies have short lives to begin with but to have such illnesses is truly heartbreaking. We are torn with our dachshund, Max. He has developed digestive issues and has started gall bladder disease. A puppy at heart, but we are unsure how much more he can take with his arthritis on top of it. It’s so difficult.
You gave Poppa and Basil a beautiful loving life. They loved you back, for sure. I’m so sad for your loss. Hugs.

So sorry about Basil. Our pets are such a big part of our lives and it is so hard when they are gone. We have had to make the hard decision to let one go too, but we knew it was better for him. You made the right choice and now Basil can run free with his Poppa. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
So terribly sorry for your loss. Our pets are so important to us, they make us laugh and touch our hearts in ways like nothing else. I just looked over at my little 4 legged girl and I know that someday I too will lose her. Sooo I just love her everyday, scratch her back, rub her belly and tell her I love her. I hope your pain lightens soon.
So very sorry that Basil is gone, I believe Dogs DO go to heaven. It is such a sad time when a beloved family member is done. I just gave my grand-dogs extra attention. We still think about and talk about our darling Dee who died 16 years ago, memories. Hugs.

i’m so SO sorry to hear about basil. we went thru something similar a few years ago with our furry family member, mocha, & i agree it’s one of the hardest things we’ve ever done. we have a new dog now, bailey, & i hug her & love her so much, my husband says i care about her more than him. lol. it’s all in jest but she’s such a love hound it’s hard not to love her back. sending prayers your way. maybe basil is playing w/ mocha as they watch over us. xo- maryjo
