Vol 5. Welcome friends! I am going to be doing a little something new on Saturdays. The Cottage Market in the early years (aka…before I knew any thing about blogging lol) had a little segment called Down The Rabbit Hole. It was a collection of random links that I found throughout the week that I loved and think you will do. So I thought it was time to bring it back New and Improved, because I am going to be adding a little Giveaway each week…a little something that I found fun and thought you would like. The items are not sponsored and are purchased directly by me to send you a smile. My approach to this New Year is living more simply and putting more emphasis on the “little things” and the important things in life like kindness…compassion…health…family…love of animal…charity…well I think you get the picture… So on Saturday’s sharing some fun links…sending someone a smile with a token of my appreciation will be the norm. You can enter the Giveaway by simply leaving a comment. There is another very important facet to Saturday’s Down The Rabbit Hole…for EACH comment left The Cottage Market…aka myself and my family will be donating $1 to a deserving charity each week which we will announce and be accountable for…so let’s leave those comments . Tell us what your favorite things are and spread the love. The Cottage Market is also making a personal pledge to donate 5 percent of our net earnings to Charity this year…it’s a way of giving back and that is so very important to us. So come on in an enjoy…spread the love and maybe win a little something cool while donating to charity. Scroll on down to see this weeks FUN Giveaway! (remember…blue words are clickable : )

I love your site; I just have to read it or I don’t feel my day is complete! I have owned dachshunds for 33 years. I can’t seem to live without one. Your donations to these doggy charities is incredibly beautiful. A nation’s true colors are shown by how it treats its people and animals. As a long-term survivor of chronic illness, my heart and prayers have been with you during your recent cardiac illness. And on a lighter note, I hope I win the mug – love anthropologie’s doxie stuff!
Andrea says
Hi there Debra! How are you! I know how you feel about being addicted to dachshunds…been there and still doing that : ) Thank you for your loving wishes and concern. We are hanging in there…hoping for the best! Sending tons of hugs and love to you and yours! Hope you are well!
Karen says

Loved the studio tour! Lots of goodies in this series. Thanks for sharing. Cute, cute mugs! Would love to win! 🙂 And I think the charity this week is admirable – my sister has several dogs with pit in them (all rescues). They are so sweet!
Andrea says
Hi Cecilia So happy that you enjoyed all the goodies to look at…I LOVE that studio tour also!!! Tell your sister she is doing a wonderful thing…that makes my heart happy! Bless you all…sending tons of hugs and love to you…yours and those fabulous rescue pitties : )
Karen U says
I love that street art as well! Amazing!
Love those mugs too! And for such a good cause. Unfortunately, it’s the kind of people that often choose pit bull types that give them a bad name. As the picture says, they’re born inherently good.
Andrea says
Hi Karen…how are you! I too LOVE LOVE LOVE Street Art!!!! I am an art major and sometimes I enjoy it way more than a great Picasso or Monet! You are right…the doggies are inherently FABULOUS and they get a bad rap from bad people that use them for bad things. It is now illegal in all 50 states…I hope and pray that they close down each and every ring…it DISGUSTS ME to my core! Sending tons of hugs and love to you and yours!
Crystal Young says
I look forward to Down the Rabbit Hole every Saturday!

I am glad you brought this Saturday post back!
I love dachshunds. It all started with my little Black and Tan midi, Mattie. She has been gone 4 years and I still miss her so.
Andrea says
Hi there Louise! How are you : ) So glad you are enjoying Down The Rabbit Hole again…I didn’t realize how many people missed it! I will light a candle for little Mattie this evening along with the candles for my angels. You will never stop missing her…never…it’s because she became a piece of your heart…I know you will be together again in the future…till then…maybe sharing your love with another rescue doxie would help you through. There are NO replacements…just additions to our hearts! Sending tons of love and hugs to you and yours!

Andrea says

Anyone that adores dachshunds is a friend of mine : ) My first doxie was a long haired black and tan named Skippy Peanut Butter…he was the best and I still cry each day…but he gave me such a love for them…I went into Dachshund rescue only I fail many times and they stay lol!!!! Sending tons of hugs to you and yours!
Jacqui Jackson says
Love your kind generous gesture. Rescue dogs are very close to my heart having rescued several over the years. I also donate to a charity in Thailand that rescures dogs bred pureful for the meat trade. That are kept in the most nhumane barbaric way..its just heartbreaking. You always post such wonderful inspriring ideas and certaily brighten up any Saturday. If I ere to be chosen to win the mug please donate to the charity so that they might be able to raise some extra funds for themselves too. Happy Saturday to you xx
Andrea says
Hello Jacqui…Thank you so much for all that you do for these special animals…God Bless you! I would love to raise money for the Rescue In Thailand…if you have the information…we will do that if you would like! Your heart is a wonderful things! Sending tons of love and hugs to you and yours!
Patty says
One of our daughters-in-law is vegetarian and a good friend coming for dinner next is week is vegan. These recipes could not have come at a better time. That is wonderful but to see what Charity you picked for the first week hit me right in my heart. We have – you notice I did not say own because basically they own us – two dogs. One, Nina is a pit mix who is a bit over 12 and has cancer. Our Vet said she should have another 5 years. Our other dog is a red nosed pit, Candy who had to have 9 inches of her intestine removed because she ate a doll’s head and couldn’t be socialized. Anyway one of my viscous pit bulls is terrified of the cat, loud noises and almost everything else. These two dogs own our hearts. It breaks my heart to see how they are portrayed in the media. It seems any attack that happens is ALWAYS a pit bull. Andrea thank you for doing this for these sweet dogs.
Andrea says
Oh Patty…God Bless you! I could not be happier to hear that you have two pits in your family. of course they OWN YOU…never the other way around lol1!! I hope and pray that Nina have many years of love in front of her and Candy sounds like a precious soul!! I am so happy that Nina and Candy own you…they are very lucky : ) My dream is that they ALL have homes like yours!!! Sending hugs and love to you all!!!

Andrea says
Hi there Pam! ROZY IS FABULOUS!!!!!! I love her! Thank you for giving her your heart!!! So happy you enjoy this series!!! Sending you tons of hugs and love!
Marlene says
This is a great series. I love the Doxie cup so cute I am happy to see a pit bull rescue supported We have two rescue pitties, they are the sweetest and most loveable. family members This breed is so misunderstood. Thank you for all your help
Andrea says
You are so right Marlene…Pitties get a bad name and are so misunderstood. They are abused and used by a group of horrifying people and from that generates their reputation. I have NEVER met a Pittie that I didn’t love or didn’t love me! They are just a wonderful breed and hopefully with each passing day they get more and more understood! Sending you tons of hugs and love and a BIG THANK YOU for rescuing!!! YAY!!!
Linda Manuel says

Andrea says
Hi there Linda! So great to see you!!! I hear you…helping animal rescue is a wonderful thing…just wish we could help them all! The Humane Society will be on the list very soon. Just trying to cover some rescues that do not receive high funding…trying to make people aware of them so maybe they can get more subsidy to help more and more on a local basis : ) Sending tons of hugs and love to you and yours and wishing you a magnificent day!

Thank you for your continuing to provide us with fun links and deserving charities; I like knowing that when I make a donation, the money is going directly to support the animals and not to “administrative costs.” By the way, I enjoy street art also–some of it is truly amazing!!!
I hope you are continuing to recuperate as quickly as possible. Blessings to you and your family, xox
