This delicious spread is so easy to make and so delicious to eat! Perfect for the holidays…just place in a bowl…serve with fruit…plain cookies and dip or spread! It is fun for kids of all ages and guess what…it makes a great gift too! Come on inside and I will fill you in on how to package it and share the recipe with you and 6 different color printable labels! Red & Green for Christmas…Blue and Gold for Hanukkah…Raspberry and Blue because I like those colors ; )
So how do you make this creamy dreamy dip/spread? It’s so simple! Here is what you are going to need…
Ingredients:
One 8 ounce bar of very soft cream cheese (leave it out over night to use in the morning)
One 4 ounce stick of salted butter (leave it out over night to use in the morning)
1 1/4 cups of confectioners sugar
1 teaspoon of good vanilla extract
4 tablespoons of heavy cream
6 or more oreo cookies hand crushed (you don’t want it fine…you want it a little bit chunky : )
6-9 extra oreos for mason jar packing (crushed)
First things first…place the butter in your mixer and beat on medium speed for about 3 minutes till it is real creamy and then add the cream cheese a little at a time (cut it in 8ths)…add one at a time and cream well…repeat. Once you get a nice thick mixture…slowly add the confectioners sugar…be careful…if you add it too fast it flies in your eyes! Keep mixing until well blended and then add the extract and 2 tablespoons of heavy cream and mix well…if you want the mixture a little bit thinner…add the rest of the cream… if not…you are done! Now fold the crushed oreo’s into the mixture and it is ready to serve.
If you want to make gifts of this yummy dip/spread…crush approximately 9 oreo’s. Now take a third of the mixture and sprinkle it on the bottom of the jar…
then add enough creamy dip to reach almost the half way mark and then add another 1/3 of the crushed oreos and then repeat and top with the remaining 1/3 of the oreos…punch out your favorite color label…place on the lid and screw it on! Add a pretty bow…a spoon and maybe an embellishment and it is good to go! The perfect little gift for anyone on your list! Add maybe a bag of animal crackers in a cello bag and you have something even more special! A great teacher’s gift…fabulous for the mail person…anyone…really…who doesn’t love oreos! You have all different colors to choose from…use your pretty ribbon…twine or cord…it is an easy gift to make!
If you are not using it as a gift…scoop it into a cup or bowl and serve some up with fruit…cookies or even animal crackers…the kids will love you and the adults will join in on the yummy fun too! This is delicious filling in cupcakes…in a layer cake and if you toast a slice of pound cake…spread some on…it’s delish…garnish it with whipped cream and you have a dessert fit for company! There is also one more person that would love to see a dish of this dreamy creamy…can you guess who? I’ll give you a hint…Ho Ho Ho!
Yep…good Ole Santa would love to find a plate of cookies and cream waiting for him when he delivers those special packages and I hear…
If you want to add a pretty label to your gift…they are waiting for you to down load…just get out that card stock …pop it in the printer and then print…punch…place and screw tight and add voila!

Melinda says
You don’t mention it in the recipe, but I assume this spread needs to be refrigerated. However you mention leaving the cream cheese out overnight to soften…. That doesn’t sound safe… Is there something I don’t know? Thanks for your help!
Andrea says
I am so sorry to be confusing and I will amend the recipe. Yes…it does have to be put in the fridge to keep. What I meant was to keep the cream cheese out over night to soften…it can handle that for sure : ) I have been doing it for a very long time and before that my mom… : ) The softer the cream cheese…the easier it blends. But when it is made…you do have to keep it in the fridge after using : ) If you feel more comfortable…you can leave it out on the counter for a few hours to soften it. Hope that helps : ) hugs…

I LOVE the Oreos Cookies & Cream Spread idea! How do I get the labels o print properly. They either print very large or very small, not the size of a mason jar.
Andrea says
Hi there Carol (love the name : ) I just went in to print them because it has been awhile and they print out perfectly in photoshop at 100 percent. I downloaded as is…then opened the file and printed at 100 percent and it is the exact size of the standard mason jar. Check what percentage you have…let me know ok…my email is thecottagemarket@gmail.com Hugs…
