The New Year is upon us and we all kind of get the itch to change things up and organize everything. So I thought that this collection of How to Update Your Farmhouse Kitchen on the Cheap would be a fun post. You will find a ton of little ideas that will pretty up your space and the best thing is none of them carry a heavy price tag.
I love this little Kitchen Pick Me up over at Zevy Joy. Just by adding a simple Hook Rack you add storage but also a homey Farmhouse Decorative touch to your space. Add a cute apron…a wicker basket with flowers…pretty dish towels…colanders …ladles (how about adding some faux moss and a succulent to it). I bet you have some favorites you would like to display and this is the perfect place to do it. It’s quick…easy…inexpensive but yet it packs a major decorative punch. Zevy Joy is filled with special little touches…drop by and enjoy her creativity.
Liz over at Love Grows Wild has so so so many little touches that make her Farmhouse Kitchen come alive. One of her fabulous touches is having 2 beautiful pitchers on her kitchen table. Just by having these two pieces opens a wonderful world of decorating. She can fill them with all kinds of fillers that are perfect for the Season in just a few minutes. It adds like…fun and whole new look to the space. So simple but yet so lovely. You could add two vases or maybe three…a set of pedestal bowls…and the list goes on an on. You must stop by and visit Liz…her kitchen has special little touches every where you look…my favorite is her vintage colander filled with fresh fruit (a must see).
Now we are in the Farmhouse Kitchen of Yvonne from StoneGable and a beautiful one it is. Yvonne has a sharp eye for detail…you will see everything when you visit. I just love how she uses her counter as an amazing part of her decor. Just look at this small spot on the counter…it is a picture perfect (functional) Farmhouse vignette. Plus…she thought ahead…he has used 2 tray like vessels to hold everything so when she needs that counter space she can clear it in a snap. Adding the mug rack and Farmhouse Coffee sign just puts the space over the top. You can do this in an afternoon and I bet you can do most of it by shopping your own house. So many other ideas are waiting for you on this beautiful blog.
This happy kitchen holds tons of love and memories of family time and love. It also has perfect little touches that are quick and easy that make you smile. Just by adding a pretty set of bottles filled with simple Flowers adds so much personality and charm to the space. You can take 3 milk bottles that you may have picked up from a Thrift Shop and fill them…or it could be 3 cylinder vases you can find in the dollar store for…yep…you guessed it…$1! How about 3 pretty teacups or 2 teacups with a teapot brimming with some pretty blooms. You can even use pretty wine glasses with succulents…the list is endless and can be done in a snap! So much more awaits you over at Cherished Bliss!
Oh the creative Lucy over at Craftberry Bush is always coming up with “special touches” she is the Queen! I adore how she hangs a woven tote…hangs it on the chair and places beautiful blooms inside…it just brightens up the entire space and it is the first place the eye goes to! You can use fresh flower for special occasions…but I highly recommend a fabulous faux flower grouping so the beauty can stay for a long time…once again…you can change it out for the Season or just because. Such a simple thing that adds so much for such a small cost. Lucy’s Farmhouse Kitchen is filled with all kinds of goodness and ideas…be sure to check out all of her kitchen posts and her whole blog…a must see.
Oh Ann over at On Sutton Place has a wonderful pick me up for any kitchen at all…a Fresh Herb Garden and of course she adds the extra Farmhouse Touch by planting in galvanized tins with the most adorable little tags attached with wooden clothes pins. As you can see…she continues to add more charm simply by placing a silver piece on top of a vintage scale (can you imagine how many possibilities there are for this scenario…bet your imagination is running wild) Greenery is a fabulous way to add life to your kitchen and herbs are the best because you get to cook with them so your food is fresh too. Ann will show you how to put one of these together…so please drop by for her expert advice and for more incredible decorative ideas.
Michael over at Inspired by Charm is going to show you how you can add tons of charm to your kitchen space and add storage all at the same time. The DIY for this amazing Pegboard Organizer is over at his fabulous blog. Just imagine having all this space for utensils…pots…pans…spices…utensils…special pieces…photograms…plants and more. Talk about a fun pick me up! I bet you have tons of thing you would love to include on this beauty. I love the shelf too! You can change it up any time you want and there are limitless possibilities!
Miss Marion from the one and only Miss Mustard Seed is going to have you looking up! How about adding a pot rack about your island or somewhere else in your kitchen. A simple addition like that can add tons of avian…charm and fun to a space plus it is extra storage. I sure wish my pots and pans were as decorative as these : ) but for those of you that have some awesome pots and pans…this would be a great addition to your space!
I know we talked about counterspace above…but I had to show you how Liz Marie decorates on her counters. Such a fabulous way to add Farmhouse fabulousness to a space. Vintage crocks filled with rolling pins…can’t get much more Farmhouse than this can you. I also love how she put it in a wooden crate…that way you can add a touch of the season to it too!…she also has many other special little touches for the kitchen…you owe it to yourself to check it out! Liz Marie is in the middle of a new Kitchen Renovation…be sure to check out the progress!
Shayna from The Wood Grain Cottage shows us that open shelving can refresh a space…add beauty and major storage space. I love how she added a clock to the mix…greenery…coffee cup rack…cutting boards…cake stand…all kinds of dishes and more…It looks like a vignette but it is so so much more. Shayna has amazing tips and ideas for your Farmhouse Kitchen…so be sure to visit…you will be so glad you did.
Donna…aka Miss Funky Junk can sure make a kitchen smile. She created this small space in her kitchen and it is fabulous and she has what every kitchen needs…a Farmhouse Sign. You can hand them on the walls…lean them on the wall…but them above the cabinet pace or create an amazing life size vignette like this one. There are so many more great Kitchen DIY Ideas over at Funky Junk Interiors. You are going to love what you see and you will be so incredibly inspired!
The girls over at A Beautiful Mess always have such creative and fun ideas…check out this wonderful Cottage Farmhouse Kitchen. It’s a space that makes you smile and you can do something like this in an afternoon! First…they use the above the cabinet space as a decorative and a storage area. The metal baskets look wonderful…plus them hold things that you don’t use all the time but look great. It’s a win win. Then to add a little POP of color…they painted the inside of their cabinets. So cute and unexpected.
Have you considered changing your hardware in your kitchen? It is pretty amazing what it can do to switch up the look and give the space a new face! Over at the Turquoise Home…they are going to show you all the steps you will ever need to change things up! The traditional “pull” can add TONS of Farmhouse Charm or you might go Brass…it is one of the #1 Home Decor Trends of 2018.
How about giving your Kitchen Table a new Farmhouse Fresh Look? A fabulous weathered vibe that is fresh and fun? It’s inexpensive and when you visit Bless’er House you will find a tutorial that will show you the way from start to finish. May you might want to use a color for the base…that would look totally amazing too. While you are at it…why not do the chairs and maybe change up the upholstery on the cushions.
One of 2018’s Hottest Trends are Two Toned Kitchen Cabinets! What do you think? To be honest…I do believe we are going to do our cabinets with white on top and a deep navy on the bottom…I will let you know how it goes. It is really a fresh look and will change the atmosphere in your space and everyone will notice. The best thing is is if you get tired of it you can always paint it again!!! Bi-Color Cabinets just might be what you have been looking for…Thanks Mountain Modern Life for sharing. Combine this with new hardware and WOW!!!
There is nothing like a wonderful new backsplash to brighten things up. There are so many varieties out there from peel and stick to tile and beyond. When you visit Bless’er House they are going to show you their new Farmhouse Backsplash that I think is awesome. They used Tin Ceiling Tile and I will let them show you how (full tutorial)…the end result is Farmtastic but it would be perfect in any kitchen. It’s unexpected and much more affordable than many tile options. One thing is for sure…a new backsplash is a great little makeover.
