Here at The Cottage Market we have Unicorn Calendars… a Yummy Unicorn Bowl… a Gorgeous Monogram and today we are adding Quick and Easy Rainbow Unicorn Bark that is totally quick and easy to make and will impress even the non-believers : ) So come on in and get the simple how to…we even have a minute video that will have you making this delicious treat today! It’s time to RAIN SPRINKLES!!!
Tip #1: If you are using a double boiler or a glass bowl over a pot…after you have melted your White Chocolate…turn off the heat but allow the chocolate to stay over the water…it will keep it melted perfectly as you proceed to melt the other colors. Give it a little stir as you switch colors in the microwave! If you are using the microwave…melt the White first.
Tip #2: Use small glass dessert dishes to melt the colors. You DO NOT NEED more than 2 ounces of each color.
Tip #3: Well I learned something I did not know before…if you have a little bit of colored chocolate left…DO NOT REHEAT IT!!! It just doesn’t work and I found that out the hard way. I decided to make a video when I was doing another piece of bark…it wasn’t planned…it was spur of the moment…so I thought…NO problem…I will just reheat the left over and that will make things quicker since I didn’t want the white base to harden. Well…it was a bit think and didn’t flow well and I apologize for that in the video. But it is a good thing since I can share that knowledge with you!
#Tip 4: The look of your Bark depends a lot on your sprinkles. When I made my first Bark I used a collection of small pastel sprinkles with a little bit of confetti sprinkles at the end. The result was a very pretty…delicate bark (perfect for a Baby Shower Favor). My second one I used larger sprinkles in more bold colors…it made a more party bark and wasn’t as “pretty” but tons of fun. So pay attention to the sprinkles you purchase and keep in mind what look you are going for! One more note…believe it or not…TOOOOO many Sprinkles can be a bad thing (learned this from experience)…you don’t want to hid those pretty swirls of color!
Tip #5: I was afraid that the since I had to melt 5 different chocolates some of them would start to congeal before I could use them. So I set up a baking dish filled with hot water on one of my burners which I put on ultra low…no need to do that!!! If you work in a timely manner and you give everything a little stir…everything is fine : ) However…do not pour the white chocolate base out before all of your colors are melted and you are ready to go.
Tip #6: Use a skewer to swirl…it is easier to hold but if you only have a toothpick it will give you the same result. I found by just placing a little bit of each color randomly round the white worked great. Don’t over color though because you want the white to show through! You will probably use 1/2 the color chocolate you melted. I used 2 ounces because 1 was just not that great to melt…it got a little lumpy. This is truly SIMPLE! It is great for a Party Favor or a Treat! Hope you ENJOY!
