Drinking water is part of a healthy routine to keep your body strong. Getting all the water you need can be difficult at times. Even though water can be refreshing, we often crave something sweeter. These creative tips to stay hydrated will help you keep your water intake high without drinking a gallon of water a day. Try out these quick and fun hacks for hydration.
Add fruit or veggies to water.
Dropping a few berries or a lemon wedge in your water can give it a refreshing, light taste to keep you out of a boring water rut. One of my absolute favorite ways to spruce up my water is with cucumber slices. The taste cucumbers bring to cool, fresh water will have you drinking more than your fair share every single day. Water infuser bottles make this easy to do and even come with recipe booklets for all your fruit-infused water drinks. Or one of my favorite hacks is to put some berries at the bottom of the glass and smash them… then pour the water or even Seltzer on top and stir. Kicks it up and it is so delicious! Eat your fruits and vegetables too!
Foods high in water content, like fruits and vegetables, can also help your body stay hydrated, healthy, and strong! Chow down on lettuce, celery, cucumbers, and zucchini with these vegetables solo or in a salad. If you are feeling like fruit, try some grapefruit, watermelon, strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, peaches, pears, and even tomatoes (yes, tomato is a fruit). Whether you are whipping up a fruit salad or nibbling on these delicious, healthy water-filled snacks, you’ll be keeping yourself hydrated!
Enjoy homemade popsicles.
Make your own popsicles at home with a easy to use popsicles mold set. Some of my favorites are Propel or Gatorade popsicles, or even sparkling water infused with fruit. There are many recipes available with the mold set, so you are sure to find some that will promote hydration any time of year!
Carry a hydration backpack.
If you are a traveler, hiker, runner, or even walker, a hydration backpack will hold liters (or even gallons with some versions) of water and keep it cool while you get your workout.
Set a goal.
Tracking your water intake and setting a mini goal can be motivating even if drinking water isn’t your favorite thing to do. Once you reach your daily intake (64 ounces is usually the minimum mentioned), reward yourself with a carbonated beverage or a short binge of your favorite Netflix show. Your reward should be something you enjoy but doesn’t negate your hydration or lead to unhealthy consequences.
Start early.
In order to reach your water consumption goal, don’t wait to start drinking water at lunch time. Pour a glass to start your day and continue to stay hydrated all day long. You may want to try a water bottle that not only measures your intake but also gives motivational messages to keep you drinking H2O all day long!
Track how much you save.
Although saving dollars and cents may not keep you hydrated, it’s one of the major benefits of filling your thermos with water instead of soda or coffee. Whenever you would normally hit Starbucks or buy a soda, keep track of what you would have spent. The amount you save by choosing water over other pricey beverages adds up. Treat yourself to a cool workout outfit, a new water bottle, or even a trip (over time) with all you save! We can help you with the tracking. Check out our Daily Planners, it has a handy little hydration section so you can check off your daily intake! All of these Tips to Stay Hydrated will make things so much easier and tasty!
Remember your why.
Staying hydrated has so many health benefits. Drinking water can help you maintain a healthy weight, stay alert, improve brain function, promote urinary and digestive health, and improve athletic performance. Remember why you are trying to drink the right amount of water each day to keep you focused on your goal.
