A sweet lemony flavored liquor.
- 14 Large Lemons
- 3 cups sugar
- cups water
- 1 (750-ml) bottle of vodka (you don't have to buy the finest of vodka's...just a good basic one...the lemon and sweetener will make it fabulous.
- Use your best vegetable peeler or zester and peel the lemons trying very hard not to include any white pith (it will make your drink bitter), I fine zested ½ of the lemons and the other ½ I did in large long peels.
- After you finish your zesting...place all of the zest and peels in a ½ gallon mason jar and pour the entire bottle of Vodka over the peels.
- , Screw on the lid nice and tight and store it at room temperature for a minimum of 10 days (the longer it steeps...the richer lemon flavor you will have...you can let it steep for a month if you like...but it is really good at 10 days : )
- After the vodka is steeped and ready it is time to make the simple syrup.
- Put 3 cups of water and 3 cups of sugar into a sauce pan...bring to a boil and then simmer for about 10 minutes stirring occasionally. Then allow it to cool completely.
- , It is time to strain the liquid through a mesh strainer. Discard the peels and return the liquid to the jar and add the simple syrup.
- Pour into your favorite bottles and refrigerate until ice cold...the colder the better!
- Add a printed label and you are ready to drink!
- Create new drinks with this yummy brew and it is also fabulous to bake with. ENJOY!
