The Most Useful Rubbing Alcohol Hacks Ever are waiting for you to explore. From quick and easy eye glass cleaner, the perfect ice pack, fab air freshener +
Most of us have a bottle of rubbing alcohol in the medicine cabinet. We normally reach for it when we need to treat a wound or sanitize something. But, rubbing alcohol is so versatile. It can be used in many ways. And the best part is that a bottle of rubbing alcohol is inexpensive. There are many things you probably didn’t even know you can use rubbing alcohol for, some may even come as a surprise to you. Check out these most useful rubbing alcohol hacks.
Use to Stretch Tight Shoes
Use it to stretch tight shoes. If your shoes are too tight, spray a layer of rubbing alcohol on the inside and outside of the shoes. Then wear them with a thick pair of socks to stretch the shoes out.
Remove Sticky Residues
Remove the sticky residues left behind by price tags, stickers, and plasters. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to remove the sticker or price tag from a brand new item you bought, then having a layer of the sticky residue left behind. How can you solve it? Soak the area with rubbing alcohol then wipe clean.
Deodorize Your Shoes
Deodorize your shoes. Some shoes, especially leather and wet ones, may produce a foul smell. You can deodorize them by spraying rubbing alcohol into the insides of the footwear then leave them to dry, preferably in a sunny spot. The alcohol will soak up all the smell and deodorize your shoes so they will no longer smell.
Clean Makeup Brushes In A Breeze
Clean makeup brushes in a breeze. Instead of using the expensive makeup cleaners available on the market, you can use alcohol. Clean all the grime and dirt and keep the germs at bay from all your makeup brushes and tools by soaking them in rubbing alcohol for about 30 minutes. After soaking them, allow the tools to air dry.
Heal Cold Sores
Heal cold sores. Cold sores can be common and can last for up to 10 days! But there is a solution to heal them quickly. Dab the affected area with a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol before you go to sleep.
Remove Your Dog’s Ticks
Remove your dog’s ticks. If you are having problems dealing with your dog’s ticks, rubbing alcohol can do the trick. Dab a small amount of rubbing alcohol on your dog’s body. Ticks hate this taste and will start to loosen their grip, making it easier for you to pull them out. Once you pulled the tick off, dab the area with rubbing alcohol again to disinfect the wound…. And kill the tick, of course.
Keep You Car Frost-Free
You can also keep your windows frost-free with rubbing alcohol. Just mix 1/2 cup of rubbing alcohol with 1/4 cup of water. Using a sponge, wash the windows with this solution. You will soon notice there is less frost than normal.
Homemade Ice Pack
Did you know that you can make the perfect ice pack by adding 1/3 part rubbing alcohol to 2/3 parts water into a ziplock bag and freeze. Since there is alcohol in the mixture it does not freeze solid so the ice pack molds around the area of the boo boo. You can reuse it too.
Remove Permanent Marker
Sometimes you unfortunately make a mistake and mark something with permanent marker. Well if you get yourself a nice clean rag or even strong paper towel and dose it with some rubbing alcohol and rub it on the area… it should remove the mark nicely. Of course SOONER is better than later!
Homemade Air Freshener
Do you love to freshen the air? Well making your own spray is super simple. Just take a cup of water and add 3 tablespoons of rubbing alcohol to it and then here is the fun part… add 10 drops of your favorite essential oil. I love a combination of orange and grapefruit! Once you try this you will let the Bill Nye The Science Guy in you come out and experiment with different fragrances… the possibilities are limitless!
Clean Those Smelly Garlic Hands
Do your hands get a bit smelly after you chop up the onions and garlic for that delicious pot of Granny’s Tomato Sauce??? Of course the do. There are different ways to make that smell disappear… but one that is quick and easy is to rub a bit of rubbing alcohol on your hands will take care of it.
Remove The Grease
You know how the top of the stove ….backsplash and hood gets a bit greasy? Well when that happens… get a nice clean rag… spray it good with rubbing alcohol and go over the areas. It should remove the grease very nicely.
Remove Finger Prints From Stainless Steel
If you have a Stainless Steel Fridge you know that finger prints from everyone in the house can build up and be tricky to remove. Well did you know that by pouring a bit of rubbing alcohol onto a clean rag and rubbing them off that way will work wonderfully.
Eye Glass Cleaner
Did you know that 3/4 cup of rubbing alcohol and 1/4 water + 3 drops of you favorite dish detergent… put is it a spritz bottle and shake you will have a great eye glass cleaner. How simple and budget friendly is that!
Rubbing alcohol is not only for disinfecting your tables, furniture, and countertops — it has a lot of uses! This inexpensive solution is a must-have for any home.
