7 Things You Should NEVER Throw Away

Well my friends, you truly loved the post on 6 Things You Should NEVER Throw Away…so of coursewe have part two for you today…7 Things You Should Never Throw Away!  DIY Projects ABOUND are waiting to be made : )  By the way …the purge I told you about in September…it is still going on! I am almost at the point that the studio is empty and it is begging for it’s makeover and that’s a good thing. But I still have a ways to go with some “collections”!!! All of the items have gone to a good home so that is a good thing. We have a Thrift Shop in our town that is open during the school year and it is totally volunteer…all of the items are donated…so 100% of the profit goes to distributing Scholarships to Children that are in financial need…so “all is good”! In the end…there are still items that are really hard to part with knowing their inner potential lol!!!! So I just wanted to write another one of these posts so you think about what you are throwing away first before you do!!! Upcycling is such a great thing and the items that you create are so individual…so original…so check out these additional little treasures that can yield you so much. Then in the end…if you decide to part ways…pass them on to a place or person you know that will treasure them : )

 

 

1.  Drawers

I can not believe that these were not on my first list because I am addicted to drawers. There are so many absolutely amazing things you can create with them…plus they make the best under the bed storage ever! So if you are driving down the road (not highway) and you spot an old beaten dresser that can not be brought back to the living with a pile of drawers next to it…wait till you find the next possible street to turn around in and go back…snatch them up…load them in your trunk or hatchback and bring them home. You are going to have so much fun with them from storage on wheels to shadow boxes on the wall!!!  If you love upcycled drawers…here are some more!

Seriously…how adorable is this indoor planter created by Happy Together by Jess! All you need is a drawer…some paint…maybe some new hardware or the existing hardware…some legs (or you can use an old or new TV Table/Tray and you are ready to create the perfect planter for your home. It’s unique and looks amazing.

Ok…if you have read The Cottage Market for some time now you won’t be surprised that this is my favorite drawer upcycle EVER…come on…if you have a nice size dresser drawer what better thing to make from it but a FABULOUSLY FRESH and Stylin Dog Bed. 2. Chairs

Chairs…you see them everywhere…Garage Sales…Flea Markets…Thrifts Stores…Road Side and more. Sometimes they are in fabulous shape but sometimes they are beat up and broken. Guess what…there is always a potential diamond in the rough waiting to be mined! So think long and hard before you toss a chair aside…it could be your next planter…stool…wall hanger…shelf and oh so many more creations! Yep…Cutting Boards…Pizza Peels…you get the picture! They are not just for cooking and pulling out those hot delicious pizza’s any more! They make amazing trays…fabulous Wall Art…even a decorative place to place your ipad! Even if they are scratched and worn…they can add character and charm to your space…especially in the kitchen. So think long and hard before you toss them and don’t forget…giving them a good sanding and treatment can revitalize them for their original use too! Now go forth and find a few of these treasures…they are out there!!! 5.   Spindles

Spindles…they are not something you think about much…but you can find them on all sorts of things…chairs…railings..ornamentation on many pieces of furniture…but do you give them tons of thought when it comes to upcycling projects? if you don’t you should because they are really fabulous! You might have a broken char with three legs …don’t get rid of it until you harvest the spindles! Spindles can be used for some many things you will be amazed. Even if you don’ t have a project in mind…having some extra spindles just might come in handy when you are looking for a pretty pair of legs for a little table or tray! Keep your eyes peeled for them…maybe even snatch up a broken piece for pennies just to snatch up the spindles! Let’s check some fun DIY Projects out!  Then you will find more here!

If you take a trip to Angie’s place Knick of Time you will see how she used spindles to connect vintage enamel ware together to form a fabulous Farmhouse Storage items. you can fill it up with pretty notions or apples and oranges! Now this spindle tree was certainly a DIY Project that I would consider totally out of the box and it was created by KariAnne over at Thistlewood Farms! Kari saw worn and weathered spindles on a run down rocker and she had the insight to see a tree…a fabulous tree…one that will become one of those family pieces that kids fight over…it is simple brilliant and for other brilliant ideas…visit her …you will be glad you did!

6.  Doors

Knock …Knock…who’s there? Doors that will open your mind to some pretty amazing creations. You just won’t believe how many things can be made from doors…from desk tops…to room dividers to beverage stations and more! So if you see one…don’t wait…snatch it up right away because the opportunity to make it your just might close quickly as someone else snatches it up! Silverware…that is something that you should never throw away because it just has so much potential! Really…the projects are endless…from hand stand garden markets…to a windchime!
