Decorate with six free printable Christmas chalkboard signs featuring festive lettering, mistletoe, jingle bells and bows.
Hi friends… How many of these Christmas signs can you read before you start singing? I made it as far as “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”… and that’s the very first one!
Today we have six free printable Christmas chalkboard signs filled with familiar holiday sayings, pretty white lettering and a few sweet surprises. There’s a Christmas tree made entirely of words, a big round ornament tied with a bow, and a little pair of sleigh bells that you can almost hear jingling.
Each design is available in 5×7 and 8×10 inches. You can choose an individual JPG or download all six signs together as a PDF. If you already have a favorite Christmas saying, let’s see if it’s in the collection!

About the Christmas Chalkboard Gallery
What I love about chalkboard art is the lettering. You can see the grain in a thick white stroke, the fine lines where a letter curls back on itself, and those soft gray smudges that make the background look like an old slate.
In this collection, the words are part of the illustration, too. The flourish beneath “Merry” becomes a place to hang three ornaments. The letters in “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” spread out like evergreen branches. They’re lovely details to discover when you take a closer look.
All six prints share the same black and white palette, so you can pick your favorites and know they’ll look pretty together.
Choose Your Christmas Chalkboard Downloads
You’ll find the 5×7 JPG and 8×10 JPG download spots beneath each sign. If you’d like the entire collection, both complete gallery PDFs are together just after the sixth print.
These free printables are for personal use. Enjoy them in your own home or frame a favorite as a little Christmas gift.
Six Free Printable Christmas Chalkboard Signs
1. Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree
Look at what happens as you read from top to bottom! The words grow wider until they form a Christmas tree, complete with a snowflake topper, a little trunk and tiny ornaments hanging from the curls of the letters.
2. Merry and Bright
A big ribbon bow tops this round Christmas ornament, with “Merry” in flowing script and “Bright” in tall, shaded letters. My favorite part is the pair of white starbursts… they give the ornament the sparkle of an old glass bauble.
3. Meet Me Under the Mistletoe
A little sprig of mistletoe hangs beneath the words “Meet Me,” its white berries nestled between the leaves. The ribbon at the top is so delicate, while that wonderful sweep of lettering in “Mistletoe” fills almost the entire width of the sign.
4. Jingle All the Way
“Jingle” dances across the top of this print, and two round sleigh bells sit beside the curling tail of “Way.” See those little chalk marks around the bells? A few simple strokes make them look as though they’re still shaking!
5. We Wish You a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
This one reads like a Christmas card from the whole family. “Merry Christmas” takes center stage in sweeping white script, and a little ribbon banner at the bottom saves a place for the New Year wish, too.
6. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Three little ornaments hang at different heights from the flourish beneath “Merry.” One has long narrow stripes, and the other two have bands of stars. They remind me of the ornaments you unwrap from tissue paper every December and are always happy to see again.

If you’d like to keep the six signs together, choose the gallery PDF in your favorite size. You can print the whole collection at once or select just the pages you want.
Create a Christmas Chalkboard Gallery Wall
For the full collection, try three prints across and two down. If you have a narrower wall, two across and three down gives you a taller arrangement. Lay the frames out before hanging them so you can switch the signs around and see which ones you enjoy side by side.
For a pair, I especially like Merry and Bright with Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. One features a single oversized ornament and the other has three tiny ones. If your family loves Christmas music, Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree and Jingle All the Way make a cheerful pair of their own.
Pretty Ways to Display a Single Christmas Sign
A 5×7 is a sweet size for one of those little standing frames many of us already have. Tuck Meet Me Under the Mistletoe beside a stack of Christmas cards, or put We Wish You a Merry Christmas on the entry table to greet friends coming through the door.
For a mantel, I’d choose Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree in the larger 8×10 size. Give it a spot beside a small bottlebrush tree and you can enjoy the same familiar shape twice… once in bristles and once in beautiful lettering.
Pair the Prints With Decorations You Already Love
The black and white artwork gives you plenty of freedom with color. A few red glass ornaments will bring out the festive side of Merry and Bright, while a clipping of greenery will pick up the shape of the leaves in the mistletoe print.
You might also have a family Christmas photograph that belongs beside one of these signs. A picture of little hands hanging ornaments would be especially sweet next to the Christmas tree print. I love a holiday display that has a family story tucked into it.
A Few Friendly Printing Tips
- Download the file that matches your frame opening. Both 5×7 and 8×10 are available.
- Choose white matte paper for the chalkboard look. The dark background is part of the artwork, and the white of the paper shows through as the lettering.
- For a PDF, select Actual Size or 100% and use paper large enough for the design. For a JPG, select the matching print dimensions and turn off automatic cropping.
- Check the print preview, especially the snowflake at the top of the tree and the ribbon on the ornament. Those little details should fit inside the printed area.
- Since these designs use quite a bit of black ink, print one favorite first. Once you’re happy with the result, print the others, let them dry and trim any extra paper before framing.
A Sweet Little Christmas Gift Idea
Think of someone you love and the Christmas song that reminds you of them. Maybe it’s the aunt who turns up “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” the minute it comes on, or the friend who always picks “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” when everyone gathers to sing.
Print that sign, slip it into a frame and write a line on the back telling them why you chose it. Even something as simple as “This song always makes me think of Christmas at your house” turns a little printable into a keepsake.
A Little Christmas Nostalgia
One thing I love about these signs is how much a handful of words can bring back. You read a song title and suddenly you can hear the voice on a favorite Christmas record or remember who always came in a little early on the chorus.
I hope you find a print here that brings back one of those memories. And if somebody walks by your new Christmas sign and starts singing along… even better!
