This Week’s Featured Friends
1. The Power of Yet
Laura and Laurie are sharing a little word with such a beautiful message… “yet.” Drawing on their years as kindergarten teachers and their adventures as grandmothers, they show how adding that tiny word to “I can’t” can leave room for learning, patience and possibility. I think this is a lovely read for anyone encouraging a little one… and a gentle reminder that we grownups deserve that same encouragement too.
2. Nelson Crest at Halloween
Oh Debbie… your little Nelson Crest is dressed for Halloween, and there is so much to discover! Her Victorian dollhouse has spooky trees on the balcony, pumpkin topiaries by the front door, a tiny graveyard and even the sweetest little pups ready for trick or treating. Take your time with this one, friends… those miniature details are half the fun!
3. No Bake Cherry Eclair Dessert
Tracey has a sweet treat for us that looks like it belongs right in the middle of a family gathering! Layers of graham crackers and fluffy vanilla pudding are topped with cherry pie filling… and there is no oven involved. Just five ingredients and some time in the refrigerator make this a lovely dessert to prepare ahead… then bring out when everyone is ready for a little something sweet!
4. Sweet and Salty Chex Mix
If you have a soft spot for something sweet, salty and crunchy… Tracey has all three covered! Her Chex Mix combines cereal, pretzels and cheese crackers with a buttery brown sugar and honey glaze, then adds a little candy once everything has cooled. I can just picture a big bowl on the table for game night… with everyone reaching back for another handful!
5. Butternut Squash Soup
Kippi is bringing some cozy comfort to the table with her creamy butternut squash soup! Roasted squash and apple join carrots, onions and a little warm seasoning for a bowl that sounds just right for a crisp autumn evening. Choose the vegetable broth option… add a sprinkle of pepitas and a slice of crusty bread… and I think dinner will feel pretty special!
6. DIY Halloween Garland
Olivia has turned a few simple craft supplies into the cutest little Halloween gathering! Yarn ghosts, pumpkins and googly eyed spiders come together on one cheerful garland… with instructions for making each little character. I think this would be darling draped across a mantel or tucked along a shelf… just enough spooky sweetness to make you smile!
7. Free Printable 2027 Elegant Monogram Calendar
If you love a little elegance with your everyday organization… I have something pretty for you! Our newest free printable 2027 calendar pairs oversized letters with delicate botanical details and soft touches of blush, gold and gray. There is room for your appointments and a handy notes section too… because pretty things should be useful things!
8. Thrift Store Terrarium Ideas and Creative Planter Makeovers
An old clock… a glass coffee pot… a pretty jar sitting on a thrift store shelf… sometimes the most unexpected things make the sweetest little gardens! I gathered a collection of creative terrariums and planter makeovers that will have you looking at those secondhand treasures with fresh eyes. There are even a few lovely ideas for those of us who prefer our greenery without a watering schedule!
9. What Are Boo Bags and How to Make Them?
A little surprise on someone’s doorstep can bring such a big smile… and Olivia is showing us how to spread that kind of Halloween happiness with Boo Bags! She shares the basics, along with printable instructions, a ghost sign and candy wrappers you can color yourself. I especially love that she keeps the tradition relaxed… a thoughtful little treat should be fun for the person giving it too!
10. A Fresh Look for a Maxi Skirt
Do you have something in your closet that you like… but never quite know how to wear? Sally is giving a neglected maxi skirt another chance, pairing its bold stripes with an Alice in Wonderland tee, a black cardigan and accessories that feel wonderfully personal. Her visit with the Thrifty Six is such a nice reminder to try a few new combinations… a favorite outfit might already be waiting in your closet!
11. Easy Baked Mushrooms with Thyme and Garlic
Melynda is letting mushrooms take their turn in the spotlight… and this simple side sounds so good! Cremini mushrooms are tossed with olive oil, thyme, garlic salt and pepper before heading into the oven. I would love these alongside a cozy vegetarian dinner… or spooned over a little toast so none of that lovely flavor goes to waste!
12. Fall Salsa
Miz Helen has a fresh little twist on fall flavors for us… and it starts with apples, a pear and dried cranberries! Her fruit salsa gets a sweet and tangy balsamic dressing with touches of cinnamon, thyme and garlic. I love finding something a little unexpected for the autumn table… and this sounds like a lovely way to put those seasonal fruits to work!
13. Copycat Longhorn Honey Oat Bread
There is something about homemade bread that makes an ordinary meal feel a little more welcoming… and Crystal is sharing her much loved Honey Oat Bread with us! If that familiar Longhorn bread is a favorite of yours, you will want to take a peek at her version. I am already picturing a warm slice with a little butter beside a bowl of soup… such a cozy combination!
14. Day of the Dead Hummus
Crystal is showing us how a little creativity can turn hummus into a party centerpiece! Inspired by Forks & Beans, her Day of the Dead display uses vegetables and a few almonds to create an edible decoration that is sure to get everyone talking. She even includes a video showing how it comes together… such a fun way to give the veggie table a festive moment of its own!
15. Tiny Paper Pumpkins
Wendy’s tiny paper pumpkins are such sweet little things… I love the soft fall colors and pretty patterned papers she chose! Simple paper strips become rounded pumpkins, with little leaves and flowers adding that extra bit of charm. Hang a few in a window or from a chandelier… and enjoy a little handmade autumn happiness every time you look their way!
