This DIY Farmhouse Dollar Store Magnetic Memo Board & Magnets is the first DIY Farmhouse Dollar Store Hack in our new series! So keep your eyes peeled each week for a new DIY!
Hi there friends, how are you? Well, I listened to your emails and comments and this week we are starting a new series where we will bring you a new DIY Farmhouse Dollar Store creation every Wednesday. I have to tell you that some times a non-Farmhouse project will slip in there : ) This week we have a fun and super quick and easy project for you. It is completely made with Dollar Store finds so you know it is totally budget friendly. So come and join me with this simple straight forward tutorial. Hopefully in a few weeks we will be bringing you a video in addition! Let’s get started.
Let’s start with the Supplies …
Chalkboard Paint and Acrylic Paint (the only thing not from the Dollar Store)
A package of Dollar Store Burner Covers (1 large 1 medium so you can make 2 Memo Boards)
Wooden Beads (Dollar Store)
Foam Brush (Dollar Store)
Glue Sticks (Dollar Store)
Pencil and Poster Board (Dollar Store)
Scissors
Choose the size Burner Cover you want to use and give it a good sand… that way the paint takes to it much better. After you finish sanding… be sure to take a cloth and give it a wipe to get the dust off.
Now take your nice clean Burner Cover an give it a coat of Chalkboard Paint with a foam brush. Try to keep your strokes nice and even. After the first coat is applies… let it dry (if you are like me and a bit impatient… take out your blow dryer to speed things up) After it is completely dry… give it another coat.
I have to mention that you don’t have to use chalkboard paint if you don’t plan on using chalk … if you are using it just as a magnetic board… any black paint or any color paint will work perfectly.
All ready for the next step!
Time to take out the rope! This part is so simple. To get things started apply a nice dollop of hot glue at a starting point and apply the rope. Once it is adhered (a second) start apply a small streak and apply more rope and so on and so on and so on until you reach where you started… trim the rope and apply a little bit of glue to it all matches up. You can pre-measure also : )
Time to apply the hanger. Pre-cut a piece of rope that will fit the back and apply a stream of glue and apply the rope. Be sure to add a bit of glue to the edge so the rope’s handle stays secure.
There you have it… ready to hang… so quick… so easy!
We can’t stop there… we have to add a bit more Farmhouse Pizzaz right??? Of course! Now it is time to make some quick and easy wooden bead flower magnets. I know they have holes that slighly show… but you really don’t notice them at all straight on… they are really adorable!
Supplies for the Beads:
Wooden Beads
Paint
Skewer
Brush
Magnet
Poster Board
Glue
Cut yourself an inch and a quarter circle from Poster Board. That will be your magnet base. Then hot glue your middle bead in the center.
Then apply the 2 side beads
Now add the remaining beads
Hot Glue leaves from a bouquet of Dollar Store Flowers to the back of the circle.
Then hot glue a magnet to the back…
and VOILA… an adorable magnet that is picture perfect for your board!
This is going to look fabulous hanging in whatever room you choose!
Sure hope you enjoyed this super simple… quick and easy DIY Farmhouse Dollar Store Magnetic Memo Board.
