Read on the Galgo’s… make a donation… write a letter… adopt… they need everyone’s help. Our friend K a faithful reader has adopted two and they are amazing. I was going to removed this link but she waned me to keep it here and hopefully it will start conversations.

I hope that legislation article from Spain is real! That’s awesome
Kathleen, that legislation in Spain is real.
However, it does not include any breeds used for hunting, such as galgos (my two dogs are galgos from Spain), podencos, pointers, etc.
Feb 1 was World Galgo Day which marks the end of hunting in Spain, and begins the mass abandonment, torture, and horrifying disposal of these breeds. It is estimated that 60-100k galgos are abandoned (etc) every year beginning Feb 1. Additionally, there has been legislation passed that has lowered the fees for hunting licenses, and charging an “export fee” to the rescues picking up their discards and rehoming them outside the country. The majority of Spain do not look at these breeds as pets, therefore a huge number are rehomed outside of the country. I hope this is changing with the younger generation and education.
Hi there my friend! I want to apologize profusely! Even though Spain passed this legislation… K has filled us is on the Galgo’s (she has two beautiful ones name Gabi and Kiki and a BIG thank you for saving these precious pups)… but I don’t want to give praise to a country that still allows the abuse to the Galgo’s! Not recognizing Galgo’s as pet’s is a horrific thing. I apologize for every posting the article and the link has been removed. Everyone here at Down The Rabbit Hole loves ALL Animals and wants them ALL to be treated with love and respect! Thank you K for bringing this to all of our attention! Hugs!!!!
I think though, that the article does open up a conversation. The comments on the article (I don’t know if people read them?) do bring up this fact, which is not wider known, about the situation for hunting dogs. I think protecting some is definitely a start, and people just need to keep pushing for the protection of all dog breeds. There are lots of people and groups actively protecting the fact that hunting breeds are still exploited, so people are definitely trying to move things in the right direction!
Hi there Kathleen! The legislation is real… but they don’t consider the Galgo’s as pets and their abuse has to STOP!!!! Baby steps… but these Dogs are dumped after hunting season and it is heartbreaking and horrific. Hope all is well with you and yours! Sending hugs and more hugs your way!

Some poignant stories (my heart cries for all the abused animals and people), but also important reminders there is hope in this world, especially the story of the grandma and how she lived her life.
The turtles reminded me of my middle son and how much he has loved them from the time he was a toddler. He made me aware of the different personalities of the Eastern box turtle. He has been in Australia the past 2 years, and I miss him so!
Prayers continue for you and your family, including the furbabies.
My heart cries to my friend! Every day! I just wish it could all be washed away. You are right though… there is hope! Sounds like your son has a real love for turtles! I have always loved them and to see this little guy just made my heart burst! Sure hope your son can come hope to visit soon! Thank you for the love and prayers for our family which like you said ALWAYS includes the furbabies!
