Hi there my friends, how are you. Are you almost done with everything for the Holidays? Sure hope you make time to enjoy yourselves. We are having a low key Christmas. We are celebrating with no gifts in our immediate family (kids are older 🙂 and donating it all to our Shelter. We just found out that the shelter’s budget for the year is gone… so it is really needed. Don’t worry… we still get the kids and the pups a little something… they have everything they need and more ) OK… my time to vent because you guys understand… Our Pet Rescue of the Week is our friends over at Rescue Dog Rocks. When I got the email from them that they needed help with a precious pup named Angel who was left barely alive on a pile of broken beer bottles. I am going to tell you that I didn’t know what to do with my anger…I didn’t know what to do with my emotions… I was a complete and utter mess but so thankful for these amazing people for saving her life. I just don’t understand. Made a donation all ready and will make another one in the name of The Rabbit Hole. How do you guys process this kind of stuff. I just wish that I could do more. What makes these things happen. I want you to know that I am thankful for having all of you in the same corner… all of you are such giving and loving hearts… thank you for making the world a better place. Sorry for the rant but I know you understand! I will keep you posted on little Angel… keep her in your thoughts… prayers…and beyond. Sending hugs and love to you all… thank you for being you!

Charity of the Week: Rescue Dogs Rock
Rescue Dogs Rock is a not for profit animal rescue founded in 2015. We exist solely on donations and will rely primarily on fundraising to help animals in need.
Our mission is to raise awareness of the ever growing plight of homeless animals in this country, both in shelters and those dumped on our streets. Way too many amazing animals are euthanized every single day simply because they are homeless.
We want to introduce these animals to the public and educate people that unwanted companion animals are not damaged goods or unworthy, but really can be great family pets. Because the abuse, neglect, cruelty and medical cases cost shelters the most money and are the most urgent, they are often the first animals euthanized.
It is our goal to focus on the rescue of these urgent animals and provide them immediately the routine, emergency or specialized medical care they need and deserve. We will go beyond just vet care and get these animals rehabilitated as needed using trainers and behaviorists to help overcome issues related to past trauma.
It is our belief that no injured or abused animal should lose its life simply due to lack of funds. We do not have our own shelter, and we will rely on volunteers, fosters and adopters to take the animals into their homes and provide them with proper care and nurturing.
All of our animals will be vaccinated, heartworm tested, micro-chipped and altered. All of our homes, foster or adopter, will be fully screened, including references and vet check, an interview with the applicant and a home visit to ensure the home is the right fit for the animal.
Our outreach and education efforts will take place online via Facebook, web site and other social media as well as in person in the community via community events, school assemblies and any place people may lawfully gather to exchange information and learn.
Our message is one teaching general animal care and welfare, population control through spay and neuter and disease control in the animal population via proper vaccinations.

Praying for Angel AND so so thankful for wonderful organizations like Rescue Dogs Rock. Just can’t wrap my head around why someone would choose to be cruel to an innocent animal. Completely sick!!! We are all pulling for and love you Angel!
Shalone, how are you. I hear you my friend. I can not wrap my head around any of this cruelty and abuse… it does not compute in my brain and to be honest… I am ashamed to be sharing the earth with these people…it breaks my heart every single day and I am so thankful for Angles like Rescue Dog Rocks who are giving little Angel a new lease on life! Please keep her in your prayers along with all the other animals! All they want is love! I am sending them another donation and I will let them know how much everyone here is pulling for this precious pup and how much they are appreciated! I will keep you posted! Sending hugs and wishes for a wonderful day!
Beaux Tox! I’ve never seen a cuter face!
I know Kathleen!!!! So happy you enjoyed that adorable face! Sending hugs and wishes for a fabulous day!
We adopted our new boy almost two weeks ago. A 4year old galgo (spanish greyhound). He had been in shelter for 2 years before he came to us, their longest galgo resident. He was so painfully shy and timid when he came to us. Now he’s wandering around the house getting to know his new home and family. I think he has chosen my son as his favorite. He loves the sound of my son’s voice, and his bed! He’s even learning to ring the string of bells on the door to go out, which is good because he doesn’t have much to say with his voice. He is the most amazingly well behaved dog and adjusting so well considering he had never been in a house or ‘belonged’ with a family if his own.
The place we got him, Scooby Medina in Spain rescues galgos, dogs of other and mixed breed, donkeys, horses, geese, cats, any animal in need.
They are a wonderful organization! In just the last month alone, they have rescued 91 dogs with an additional 10 surrendered by their owners and 9 cats. At any given time, they have upwards of 450 dogs and with peak hunting season on, they will be seeing an influx of abandoned/surrendered dogs that weren’t good enough hunters.
We are so impressed with the love and care that they give to all animals. And we absolutely adore our new boy. He’s just the sweetest!
Karen… you have warmed my heart just when I needed it the most! I am so over joyed for your new little boy (name?) He sounds like he is having the time of his life and each day will get more and more amazing!!! Please send updates!!! What a wonderful Shelter this must be! Do they have a website? Do they have an online place to make donations? Please let me know and I will feature them!!! I wish you … your family and your new little boy all the happiness life has to offer!!! Bless you all and thank you for having such a giving and loving heart!!! Tons of hugs and wishes for an amazing day!
Hi Andrea, how kind of you to consider featuring Scooby in one of your posts! I learned about them from an article featuring a couple that had adopted a pair of galgos shortly after we lost our Boxer Lucy at 14 1/2 in June. I wasn’t sure I (or any of my family) would ever want to have another dog, but when I saw my boy (Gabi -nickname of his original name) I couldn’t get him out of my mind. Some of my family was easily convinced once they saw him the other has come right around! He is the sweetest most gentle dog I ever met!
The rescue is https://www.scoobymedina.org/en/
They also accept donations through their site and accept fleece coats and blankets for the dogs.
Ana Merino who works at Scooby also has a youtube account where she posts features of some of the dogs in need of home. They are all so beautiful, I wish I would take them all! My boy is also featured in one of her videos from April 2108
There is also a Documentary called Yo galgo that can be viewed on vimeo highlighting the plight of these poor animals, or a search on galgo will bring up a ton of information and some pretty terrible images of what they go through. You would think that an animal that goes through that would have a had time trusting and loving people, but that is all they want really..
Anyway, truly beautiful animals they are..
Hi there Karen! How are you… the family and the new little precious furbaby doing? I am just so happy for you and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for saving a precious life! Thank you for all the information on Scooby. They are truly wonderful and we will be featuring them!!! Here’s wishing you and your whole family the best Holiday Season Ever! HUGS!
Thanks for sharing. The mice are soo cute!
As a child psychiatrist, i worked with so many victims of abuse; not surprisingly, research has shown the abusers of animals and people are often the same individuals. This abuse boggles my mind and hurts my heart! Thanks for the little poodle who wanted his tosses, the charming mice pictures, and the other stories of goodness and fun to help remind me that decent humans out number the others.
Hi Debra… I had a feeling you would find that article interesting…(deep sigh) I wish the abuse cycle would END!!! I also wanted to show the kind side that never seems to get the spotlight in today’s world. There are some decent humans out there and they are all here at the Rabbit Hole : ) There’s hope… we have to keep telling ourselves that… but some times it is really hard. Sending hugs and love your way my friend!
Great links! I love the coffee and the dish towels! I really need to order those for my friend who owns a shelter!
Hey there Pamela! How are you! Don’t you jut love those dish towels! They would make a fabulous gift for your friend… don’t you love a gift that gives twice : ) Sending hugs and wishes for a wonderful day!
