Easy Ways to Make House Cleaning Less of a Chore. We need to do it all and it can be somewhat fun!
Cleaning the house is something that every homeowner needs to do. There’s no way to get around it other than just to do it. However, every time cleaning day comes around, do you wish there was a way to make it feel like less of a chore? Fortunately, there are ways to make this task more fun. Here are some easy ways to make house cleaning less of a chore.
Create a To-Do List
Cleaning often feels like an overwhelming chore when you make cleaning one big task. Instead, make a to-do list of each chore. These would be things like vacuuming, putting away clothes, picking up toys, unloading the dishwasher and whatever else you need to do.
After you complete each item, you can check them off! People often get a sense of satisfaction as they see things getting done with them checked or crossed off. You can even use an app to make a list.
Make It a Family Affair
Make house cleaning a group effort. It’s more fun when you have friends and family to help tackle a big chore like cleaning the house. Delegate tasks or rooms to each individual. Everything will get done much faster!
If you live with children or a spouse, you can give everyone a responsibility to keep the house clean. Once you finish, you can celebrate.
Put on Your Favorite Music
Put on your favorite songs or playlist and get to work! When you hear songs that you love, you’re more motivated to get something done. Music boosts your mood and makes the situation more enjoyable, even if it is cleaning the house.
Curate a playlist specifically for cleaning. Add songs to sing or dance to and blast the music through a speaker or your headphones. It will seem as though the chores are going by quickly.
Invest in Storage
When there are fewer things to clean out in the open, it makes chores so much easier! Whether you own a small apartment or a family-sized home, adding more storage solutions will allow you to keep your home neat and organized.
This means you can store things rather than cluttering your home. You’ll have to do less work overall when it comes to cleaning day.
Prioritize Efficiency
Prioritize efficiency as you clean your home. Try to focus on one room at a time when cleaning. Many homeowners get distracted as they float from one room to another. Maybe you start in the kitchen, but you find a toy, so you move to the playroom, only to realize it needs to be vacuumed, so you get the vacuum, but the linen closet is a disaster!
That’s why making a list helps. However, make sure your tools work, too. Trying to vacuum with a cleaner that doesn’t have great suction can make the chore last longer.
Spread Out the Chores
Finally, spread out the chores throughout the week. Instead of dedicating one day to cleaning your home, make a chore chart so you can get the tasks done throughout the week. Spending a few minutes daily doing a different chore won’t make it seem like that much work.
Again, you can divide and conquer with others that live in your home to get the job done and keep your home tidy.
Now, Reward Yourself!
After all of that work, reward yourself! When you have something to look forward to, you’re more efficient and will focus on getting it done. Use these tips the next time you clean your home to make it feel like less of a chore.
