Storing Lettuce and Produce in a Mason Jar
Created by: Hickery Holler Farm
I love this little hack and how it came about. Over at This Grandma is Fun…there was a contest for how to have your lettuce and produce last longer (check it out…it’s very interesting). Well the winner of the contest was Hickery Holler Farm. She simple washed her produce…then put it in a salad spinner so it was nice and dry and placed it in a mason jar. She put the lettuce in the mason jar on the 2nd of the month and when she opened it on the 16th it was as fresh as the first day. AWESOME! For more tips and ideas…drop by both of these blogs!

Tomato Paste Frozen in Ice Cube Trays
Created by: Cooking Light
I have to tell you…this is one of my most FAVORITE things to do with an ice cube tray : ) I was actually going to take a picture of mine for a future post but I didn’t want to wait so I had to share! I cook A LOT and I pop these out of the freezer OFTEN. You know when you just want to add a little bit of tomato flavor to a sauce…a soup…vegetable and every thing in between…with these cubes you don’t have to open a little can of paste and have the rest go bad. It is so fabulous and I urge all of you that could benefit from these to do it. Just get yourself some trays from the dollar store…freeze up a few cans worth and then pop then into zip lock bags and put the date on them. They will last in the freezer for 6 months! Trust me you will have them used up by then…in fact you will probably have to make more. I will share with you my soup cubes next time. Enjoy!

How to Make the Perfect Boiled Egg
Created by: Greatist
This is such a great guide to boiling eggs. We all like our boiled eggs a certain way. I am very much about the 6 or 10 minute egg for my egg salad…I like the yolk not totally set…you might like yours soft boiled so you can dip your toast into it (love that: ) or somewhere in between. Here is the guide that will help you get just what you want. Remember to start your eggs in cold water with plenty of water over it…bring it to a boil…then remove from the burner and place where there is no heat…then hit the timer! If you drop by this fun website there are more insights into the boiled egg that you just might find helpful!

Frozen Scallion Pieces in a Water Bottle
Created by: Daily Mail
All I can say to this one is WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE!!! I am constantly using scallions…I mean they are a part of the base to so many of my recipes and I use them as garnish all the time…I go through about 6 bunches a week. Sometimes they go soft and icky because I usually buy them for the week (I know…I shouldn’t…but I do : ) Well now my problem is solved. You slice them up…put them in the water bottle…freeze them and they are ready when you are…it’s BRILLIANT and a hack that I will now use all the time. You might not use as many scallions as I do…but it is so nice to have them on hand all the time. Like when you want a baked potato with sour cream and scallions…or to top that nice bowl of chili off…or add them to an omelet or soup. Well you get the picture…this one is a GREAT one…it gets a 5 star rating from me. You will find other fun ideas at this fun blog!

Toast 2 Slices at Once for Sandwiches
Created by: imgfave
I have tried this for my very own Fake Bacon…Lettuce and Tomato Sandwiches and it really worked like a charm I do have to warn you though…check to see if the opening slots in your toaster can handle this method. You might have to give it a little help coming out so BE CAREFUL…remember when you put silverware near those elements…trouble happens so be sure to unplug : ) It is really good though and make the sandwich so much easier to cut and to absorb that mayo!

David Lebovitz who sure knows his way around FOOD…being an acclaimed Chef has a tip that is so great…it might not be the best photo as he says in his post but it is a GREAT hack. If you need extra space for serving food or you need space to put food on while you are working on limited counter space…set up the ironing board and VOILA…instant Counter Space! BRILLIANT! During the Holidays you could even set it out to have more serving space by putting a cute tablecloth over it to make it look more stylish. GREAT Hack David!
