Hi there my friends, how are you today. I have a little project for you this Wednesday morning that I hope you enjoy.
You can imagine how many saucers I have with my husband Joe (aka…Junkin Joe) doing his Saturday thrifting. There are many times he comes home with orphan saucers. He brought home this one hand painted vintage Japanese saucer and I really wanted to use it some how…I stared at it for a awhile and for some reason my eyes focused on the little circle in the center and then I thought to myself…why not a knob…it is tell me that and has even given me the proper placement? So here is what I came up with…It is something that anyone can do! If you like to paint…you can create your own knob…if you have one hanging about…add it…if you had your eye on an Anthropolgie knob (can you tell I do! : ) go for it…you only need one to try! You see…it is another one of those projects that you are in the pilot seat and I am just offering you a suggestion…I love projects that you can just totally be yourself! So here is the little how to…hope you enjoy!
Saucer…No cup…No problem!
Just Hanging Around
Let’s see what you might need!
A pretty little saucer… a knob or the basics to create one and some good industrial glue…I used like household goop or E 6000 or your favorite! Also you will need a simple hanger for the back…a plate hanger or your favorite. I found these plate hangers that are absolutely awesome…they are made by The Flatirons Disc Company and simply called Plate Hanger Discs! (no affiliation…just a great product!)
You know you have them in the closet! I am not even going to tell you how many I have…I actually think I am going to make some for my Etsy Shop! So now you can give them a new purpose!
I chose to make my own knob for this particular saucer…I wanted to try to compliment it as close as I could. All I did was use acrylic paints and a touch of sand paper to shabby it up!
I then added a brass filigree that echoed the brass tone rim and then took a simple resin flower and added a few highlights and coated with an acrylic finish spray and attached everything to the top of the wooden knob.
An there you have it!!! How easy was that…just attach your favorite hanger to the back and this little pretty is ready to add a little charm to any room…it is absolutely PERFECT to…
hold your favorite…
Necklaces…bracelets or whatever you like! They make wonderful gifts and you can take it further and create a trio and attach them to a decorative board (I am going to make one…when it is done I will show you) It is a pretty little project that anyone can do…think of the possibilities. So when you are in that Thrift Store and you see a bunch of saucers with no cups…don’t pass them by…give them new life…you will be glad you did!
(sorry my stripes are not straight! : )
See you tomorrow my friends…till then…tons of
(((HUGS)))
This is seriously a good idea. I see saucers that are too beautiful to be trash and I think to myself there just has to be something I can do with them! I will have to give this a try.
