You dog will be begging to sink their teeth into this crunch Halloween Treat!  If you would like to share some with your doggie friends…why not place them in a mason jar…then use our FREE PRINTABLE MUMMY BONES gift Tag (there are 2 varieties) and tie it on the jar with some gauze for extra fun!!!

These have been taste tested by Basil…Alie and Georgia…we also know that our little angel Poppa is wagging his tail from the heavens…you see in heaven he gets to have these decadent treats every day! : )  We sure hope your doggie loves these.  They stay fresh in a tightly sealed jar for about 3 weeks…but if you pop them into the freezer in a ziplock bag…they will last 3 months.  You can just take them out as you need them and the dogs love them cold.

As you can see…these little bones are topped with Melting Yogurt Chips…but you can also use White Chocolate…don’t WORRY…White Chocolate is safe…it does not have the dangerous levels of theobromine that regular chocolate does…since it is made with cocoa butter.  But it does have sugar and it should be given to your dog as a treat…2-3 of these 1 1/2″ bones is the perfect serving per day.  By the way…your dog will LOVE these without the special icing also!  So let’s get baking these delicious treats!!!

A delicious crunch Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Bone your dog will LOVE!
Author: Andrea Cammarata
Recipe type: Doggie Treats
Cuisine: International Dog Land
Serves: 80
Ingredients
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Cup AP Flour
  • 1½ cups Whole Wheat Flour
  • ¾ cup of Almond Milk (yes it is safe) or Water
  • ½ cup of NATURAL PEANUT BUTTER ...NEVER Use Sugar Free Peanut Butter with Xylitol (artificial sweetener that is toxic to pets)
  • 2 tablespoons of Honey
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon (cinnamon is safe to use for your dog ...but of course don't feed your pup an entire container because anything in quantity is not a good thing...I want you to know however NUTMEG is NOT to be used ever! I am just telling you because many people feel as though cinnamon goes together perfectly and it does but NOT FOR DOGS!
  • ½ teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1 cup Pure Pumpkin
  • Melting Yogurt Chips
Instructions
  1. Mix your wet ingredients together completely (Milk,Honey, Pumpkin and Egg)
  2. Combine your dry ingredients
  3. Now slowly mix in the dry into the wet by hand...mix until thoroughly combined the dough will be very pliable and easy to roll. You will know if you have to add a bit more liquid or on the other hand...a bit more flour!
  4. Now roll out the dough ½ inch thick and cut out your bones or whatever shape you choose
  5. Keep on rolling till all of your treats are cut.
  6. I used a 1½ inch bone cutter and I got 80 bones to give you an idea.
  7. Now place your bones on a cookie sheet lined with parchment for easy clean-up
  8. Place in a preheated 325 oven for 20 minutes
  9. Take the bones out and flip them
  10. Place back in the over for approximately 15 minutes
  11. Cool on a rack
  12. If you are icing your bones...melt your yogurt chips until smooth in a double boiler... you can dip or put the liquid into a squirt bottle and give it a Mummy Wrap design (the design uses less : )
  13. Now it is time for you to surprise your dog with the special treat!

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT and it is noted in the recipe to NEVER use Peanut Butter with Xylitol … right next to the ingredient Peanut Butter. I used yogurt chips and will removed the white chocolate… thank you! Wishing you and your pups a wonderful day! Hugs…

As a veterinary nurse I made a similar recipe to this one and had them wrapped in cellophane in a basket in our waiting room at christmas time with a sign ‘please take one for your doggie’

Simple to make and a great idea for vert surgeries as well as giving as a gift
