If you enjoy great deals on every day items and some frills, I know you will love these Secrets for Shopping at Dollar Tree and Gift Ideas.
For a lot of people, Dollar Tree is a fun place to shop. If you’re into snatching everyday items at a great price, then Dollar Tree is for you! You can also save a ton on accessories… Holiday Decorations and more! With more than 15,000 stores across the United States, this discount chain is continuously attracting customers who want to save money on necessities. If you want to save more money, here are some shopping secrets you need to know before going to Dollar Tree.
I have to share with all of you the number one reason I like to shop at Dollar Tree… it would be for all the little items that I can use to create Quick and Easy Farmhouse Crafts : ) and other crafts also! They have a great selection of basics… from ribbon to foam board to glassware to candles and so much more. With a little bit of imagination you can transform them into fun little home decor accessories on the cheap… but don’t look it : )
You know what else … it’s great for Kid Crafts Supplies… paint… canvas… pens… crayons… chalk… paper… and so much more. You can also make so great Goodie Bags for parties and so much more.
One thing I find is helpful is to go in to the Store with a plan… set a budget… know what you are looking for and of course give yourself a few dollars in case you find something you can’t do with out! It’s all about control lol!!!
Coupons
Did you know they accept coupons? Not many people know, in fact, they started accepting them just a few years ago,
Dollar Tree accepts manufacturer coupons. They accept printed coupons and coupons cut from the paper.
They will take a coupon for more than $1, but they will not give cash back or apply any overage from the coupon to your items. They will reduce the amount of the coupon to $1, as everything in the store is $1.
Rebate Apps
Before you head to your favorite Dollar Tree store, check rebate apps like Checkout 51, Ibotta, and MobiSave first.
Oftentimes, you will find cash back offers for certain products. Use your coupon to get discounts off the product then submit a photo of your receipt to any of these rebate apps to get even more savings.
Value Seekers Club
Dollar Tree has its own rewards program called the Value Seekers Club. Signing up for this free program offers you exclusive perks, early notification on special savings, access to contests and special tips, chance to win gift certificates, and more.
Plus, the Value Seekers Club allows you to customize the content you receive. If you’re only interested in home decor, you can personalize your settings to receive these offers only.
Not everything is worth $1
Before you shop, consider the unit price and the quality of the item first. Just because it’s a dollar doesn’t mean it’s always worth a dollar. (Say that to yourself over and over… really… if you do this you will stay on course for sure!
Beware of Pet Treats… Read the Labels
I personally steer clear on purchasing any treats for dogs and cats… they are not high quality so please be careful… the same with the dog and cat toys… check them out carefully… you don’t want your precious Pup or Kitty swallowing something they shouldn’t. Brands that you never heard of and have been made out of the country can bring problems to your pets. Know about the product because your pet’s safety is primary! Items below that are made in the US are a much safer treat but I have to be honest with you… they are not the best for your pup… high in calories… sugar and have no nutritional value. They are a once and awhile treat.
Name Brand Items
Although Dollar Tree carries off brands, if you check all the aisles and look more closely, you’ll find some name brand items too.
Watch out for name brand candy bars, Crest Toothpaste, Zest Bar Soap, Crafting items like Mod Podge, and more for only $1!
You can also buy books written by well-known authors like Nicholas Sparks, David Mitchell, David Hofmeyr, and more for only a dollar instead of the original price of $8!
They also have a great rack of Kitchen Gadgets including the Betty Crocker Brand. Let me tell you… Betty Crocker’s cooking scissors (great for chives) and her Spatula are great quality and so are a lot of the other items like the splatter screen… can opener… wooden spoons and a ton more.
Glassware is another great deal… they have large glass cylinder vases that are ALWAYS on trend that would cost about 8 dollars in the store… no lie! Snatch some up … you can always find a good use and a great project to do with them. They also have other glass bowls… vases … candle holders and more. Great Bargain!
Pay Close Attention To Labels
Like I mentioned above they do carry off brands and often those off brands look exactly like the name brands.
Especially when using a coupon, be sure that the coupon and item match exactly. Some of the off brands even use the same name and very similar packaging.
If you think you’re already saving money when shopping at Dollar Tree, think again. You can save even more if you know these tips and tricks.
Make sure before you checkout, you already have the coupons you need and don’t forget to take a photo of your receipt for cash back.
Christmas will be here before you know it. And right now, you might be thinking about gift ideas for your colleagues, friends, and family. The Christmas season can be considered the most expensive time of the year and that’s true if you have a long list of people for which to purchase gifts. We’ve gathered 10 thoughtful Christmas gift ideas from the dollar store that you can get for under $10. Let’s take a look:
Creative Candle Holders
Christmas decorations wouldn’t be complete without candles and candle holders and you can actually create a super chic and elegant one for a gift.
All you need to buy are the following:
- glass cylinder vase
- glittery ribbon
- decorative wall stickers
- glue or tape
Simply wrap your decorative wall stickers around your vase using glue or tape, if necessary. Tie the glitter ribbon around the bottom of the vase and you have a lovely candle holder for a gift.
Candy Filled Whisk
Here’s what you’ll need to purchase from the Dollar Store:
- Hershey’s Kisses candy
- silicon kitchen whisk
- piece of decorative ribbon
- clear plastic wrap
Cut a piece of clear plastic wrap just big enough to wrap around the whisk, not around the handle. Fill the middle of the whisk with the Hershey’s Kisses candy, then use the ribbon to tie the plastic wrap to the handle. You can even add a card and tie it on to the whisk, as well.
Christmas Mittens
You’ll need:
- kitchen oven mitt
- candle with a scent of your choice or other small gift that fits in the mitt
- colorful drink napkins or tissue paper
- ribbons
Place the scented candle (or other small gift that fits) inside the oven mitt, add a few colorful napkins or tissue paper coming out of the top of the mitt. Tie the mitt with some ribbon and you’ve got an oven mitt turned into a gift bag making this one 2 gifts in one.
Mason Jar With Santa’s Belt
Buy a mason jar and grab an old belt from your closet. Fill the jar with various treats and sweets, then wrap the belt around the jar decoratively. Add some ribbons and stickers or decorate with craft paint and you just created the most adorable gift ever!
DIY Monogrammed Candles
The first gift on this list is a creative candle holder, so why not create some monogrammed candles to go with it? Simply print some labels or letters on a piece of brown art paper and wrap them around the candles and glue them in place.
Colorful Glass Planters
Buy some decorative glasses from the dollar store and use spray paint to transform them into elegant planters. Add some succulents and you’ve just made amazing desk plants for your recipient. You can choose Christmas colors like red, green, or gold as your paint color for the planters.
Towels and Utensils
This is another great idea for a Christmas gift from the dollar store. Use your creativity and wrap kitchen towels or potholders around kitchen utensils. This is also a great housewarming gift or college student gift. There are some awesome folding techniques found online that you can try, too.
Christmas Mugs
Aside from potholders and oven mitts, mugs are also great when it comes to holding your gifts this Christmas. Just put your recipients favorite tea bags, cozy socks, and candy canes inside the mug and you can also decorate it with some ribbons, stickers, and ornaments.
Rustic Door Signs
Buy a wooden plaque that you can paint and style yourself. Add a little “hello” or “welcome” in the middle and accent it with a wreath of Christmas flowers. You just made a creative and rustic door sign as a personalized gift.
Hopefully these 10 thoughtful dollar store Christmas gifts under $10 will help spark your creativity. It’s not how much you spend on a gift it’s the thought you put into it that the recipient will remember.
