Morning to all! Hope everyone’s week is going well! I personally can’t believe that it is the middle of the week all ready! Well the Spring Time is coming soon so I thought I would do a little update on my last necklace tutorial back in November called “Washers are not just for plumbing“ I got a lot of feedback on that one and everyone seemed to enjoy it very much…I was even honored to guest post on one of my favorite blogs The 36th Avenue with it…so I reworked it just a little bit…added a Spring Color to the Mix…guess which one…I know you know it’s pink! The difference is this time we are not using washers for spacers…we are using brass nuts! Yep another fabulous little item that you find in your local hardware store for about 10 cents a piece and a little bit more for the larger ones! They are so pretty and they can work with so many different jewelry creations! I hope you experiment and make earrings…bracelets and more with them! Something so simple can carry a BIG punch in your designs!
Very simple supplies…
Some wooden beads…you can use them all the same size or varying sizes…it’s all up to you! Some brass nuts (I used the smaller ones but they do come in different sizes so check it out…they are available at the hardware store and stores such as Home Depot…etc.
Some pretty ribbon, cord, chain, twine (whatever you would like for the style that you are creating) a few embellishment and you are good to go!
Now if you want your beads to be in color…all you need is some paint and a brush. A real easy trick is to put them on little bamboo skewers to paint them, it truly speeds up the process! That brush of mine sure looks like it has been around the block a few times! If you want to speed up the drying time just take out that blow dryer!
Now cut your ribbon…string…etc…the size you would like it to be (allow extra length for tying the bow) and start stringing. Here is where the creativity is endless…2 beads 3 nuts…1 bead…2 nuts…the combinations are endless and if you don’t like it…just start again! SOOOOOO easy!
Tie the back in a bow and viola you have a simple…elegant and OH
so easy!
Here is another option…just use the beads in their natural state…now how easy is this! Add a little embellishment to the bow maybe? So sweet and simple.
If you choose to color or die your beads or if you choose to use them in their natural color…one thing for certain is that you are going to love your creations…they just can’t get any prettier or easier. The kids can join in and that always makes it fun. Multi color beads are really popular now with all ages…bottom line this is inexpensive…simple…pretty and they make fabulous gifts! Maybe combining the nuts and washers in a pattern is a really good idea…please refer to my original post for other tips and variations
Now go string them up and ENJOY!!!!

Rossini, who was born on February 29, 1792 in the Papal States in Italy, composed William Tell as well as the comic operas The Barber of Seville and Cinderella.
The son of a trumpeter, Rossini became a conductor when he was no longer able to sing after his voice broke.
He learned the violin, horn and harpsichord by the aged of 15 and wrote his first opera, The Bill of Marriage, in 1810 at the age of 18.
Rossini visited London in 1823 where he met King George IV and conducted concerts.
Back in Paris, he composed a cantata – The Journey to Reims – for the coronation of Charles X. He died in the city aged 76.
