Hi everyone…it’s Friday and time for another episode of
Junkin Joe! Guess what…next week we are going to have our first JJ Linky Party! We will be celebrating vintage and thrifty finds and all things created with them also! Once a month on the first Friday we can look forward to showing off our cool stuff! Hope all of you come and join in!
Now one thing I need to say…I was feeling really down yesterday…why? I have watched my stats go down for a little bit now…and I know they don’t mean everything but they do help us know if we are approaching our blogs from the right angle : ) Well after giving myself a little pity party…I started to put some things together…many people have said that I have not been coming up in their feeds…then I got a message from a wonderful reader saying that she thought I was on hiatus…hmmmmmm…annoying…yes…but maybe just maybe this is the source of the lower numbers and I am looking into in depth now. So I ask any of you that have had a problem with The Cottage Market getting through…just shot me off an email! I will get to the bottom of this soon! But I feel a little bit better that there is a problem — isn’t that funny!
Well you are here for the finds so let’s get to them…JJ decided to play “PICKER” this week! Yep…kind of Mike and Frank style…so even though it pains me to say this…NO PINK!!! Thought he would go some place new and try to find something out of the ordinary with a budget of $20…see what you think!
There is one piece of elegance though!
One more note (I am sorry for being so wordy today) I am showing you all of the items in the condition they were bought…I had some friends ask if they could see the pieces as is and today’s the day!
Well if you watch Pickers…you know that Frank would snatch this up in a heartbeat…
I think after a good cleaning and a bit of a manicure this has potential…
what would you do with this? To be honest I am thinking watering can???
Cool vintage cicle…
I find it interesting to just look as these old pieces…it is so wonderful that the rusting process creates a beautiful pantina…
the other fascinating thing is how these tools where made…with such care and quality…not sure what we will be doing with it…but it sure is a little work of art in its own way.
Check it out!
a vintage wooden thermometer…
once again the care that it is made with is amazing…
it works too!…Joe had this in the garage where the temps got a bit HIGH!!!
A cool or should I say a HOT find!
Time for a touch of elegance…
this is the second coffee pot beauty he has come home with…don’t you just love the pantina and the detailing…once this beauty gets cleaned up she will SHINE!!!
can I pour you a cup?
AWESOME!!!
oh she has so much age…
talk about patina…
she has such character…
real beauty…do I restore or paint…what’s your vote???
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think this Picnic Basket is actually larger than the one that YOGI and BOO BOO dream of!
look at this weaving…how awesome…
the condition is amazing and the man that brought it in said that it was at least 50 years old…
I think JJ was Smarter than the AVERAGE Bear by snatching this up…unfortunately it did not come stocked…but we can fix that! This piece needs a light cleaning and she is good to go!!!
I personally would just love if all of these vintage pieces came with audio…could you imagine the stories they would tell…that is what I think about when I look at each one of them…if they could only talk!
Well…can you believe that there is no pink? no roses? I still hope you enjoyed this episode of JJ…Pickers tribute! We don’t watch many of the TV shows that focus on this kind of thing…but we do love to watch Pickers and American Restoration (I think JJ secretly would love to be able to take a vintage piece and restore it to it’s original state…but for now that is what the shows are for : )
Hope to see you next week for the
FIRST JUNKIN JOE LINKY PARTY!!!
We can’t wait to see your finds and your creations!!!

there’s the pink : )
Fabulous finds!! I use wicker picnic hampers to store things in my studio…they stack beautifully! You could turn that oil can into a lamp! All that for $20??? Holy oil can Batman!
You still show up for me…I think it’s summer…I am off my game and not reading blogs every morning while the kids get ready for school….I sleep later too so that takes away my early morning routine. I bet everyone is suffering right now! Don’t fret….YOU ARE LOVED!!!
Blessings, Lorraine
Try to remind us again of the linky party lest we forget! I’ll try to get some pics this week.
I’ve never had probs getting on your blog but I do wonder if you get some of my e mails.. I had written a while back explaining our grand puppy adoption but you must not have gotten it- or else you’re like me and you just forgot! 🙂 Anyway, our son couldn’t properly care for Butters and everytime she came to visit, we became more attached so she’s ours now!
I don’t follow my stats, but I know I read fewer blogs in the Summer. Winter is my MAIN blogging time.
My mom was a decrotive painter and she painted on several milk cans. I wish I had one of them. The one Joe found is OLD-OLD! I would probably stick it in a flower bed and poke a bright flowering pot in it.
That basket is another story, though… I think it’s screaming for white paint and then strawberry decals all over it! Not that *I* would ever do it but that’s what it’s screaming for. 🙂
Have a great day, Andrea! ♥
Great finds. I just bought that same coffee pot at an auction here in GA for $2!!! Wish I had found the other stuff too!
Despite the lack of pink and flowers, I love all of those finds… especially the milk can and the thermometer.
Amazing finds! I think your pictures are amazing too!
No Pink BUT still AMAZING Finds!! all that for $20???? Joe needs to school me on Picking!!!

Cool finds. That picnic basket is fantastic. It’s on perfect condition. It’s funny, I was just thinking about stats, etc. I have to admit, if I visit a blog three to four times, leave comments, etc., and they NEVER visit my blog, or leave a comment or respond to me I am not inclined to go visit them after that. I wondered if I was the only one? Anyway…just thinking out loud. Always enjoy your finds!
I am thrilled with the pieces he chose this week-I would use each and every one in my home-I collect picnic baskets and this one is fabulous. I use mine stacked as tables.
I have also noticed my #’s down and way less commenting… since I returned to work last month and my injury I have no commented as much as I normally did.
I also had a issue with my blog not showing up in a google feed…crazy
Thanks for sharing sweetie
Hi Andrea & Joe – I have been trying to find you..I just went back through the over 1000 emails I received since my surgery..The last email I received from you was on May 20th..two days after surgery..I was worried that something bad happened and you quit blogging!!..I sat down today determined to find you again and when I finally did I read that other people have not been receiving your email too..I am so glad to know that you are OK..Joe these picks are great..I like more than just pretty pink things..Rusty old things can be beautiful too..So glad to be back, Nancy
Oh yeah..I also have to tell you that I met Mike & Frank about two weeks before surgery..They were in my hometown here doing some picking..Mike was such a sweetheart and gave me a big hug..I was so excited that I could barely talk..lol..That show should be airing soon so watch for them to say that they are in Lewistown PA to see a guy with the last name of Corkins..Hugs!
Love, love, love all the finds this week! Such a neat coffee pot! Imagine how neat it would be to have coffee from that pretty everyday! Happy weekend! xo Heather
Junkin Joe does it again! Can you believe I just found a similar picnic basket!! Great junking minds think alike! Looking forward to the party!
As for your stats – it’s got to be a feed problem. Let me know if you need a feed fix – I know a gal that helped me with mine when I moved my blog.
