Today it’s all about How To Save At Trader Joe’s and more! I don’t know about you… but when I shop I really like to enjoy the entire experience and Trader Joe’s is just that… a fun and rewarding experience! The Store is cheery… loaded with all kind of unique items… interesting displays… yummy tasting set-ups… easy to navigate aisles and the friendliest upbeat workers EVER!!! It’s just a happy place and when I check out… I am even happier when I see my receipt!
Everyone loves Trader Joe’s in-house products. They have a great store brand that tastes fabulous and is of great quality. Plus the prices are much better than their competitors. So just about anything you pick up at TJ’s is a win win! They also have specialty items that you can’t find easily in other stores. Being a Vegan… TJ’s saves me tons and gives me and amazing variety of items. In the next Trader Joe’s Post I am going to share a ton of items that I think are fantastic and oh so budget friendly! I just might start a Trader Joe’s Hack Recipe Collection… sound good?
Anyway… there are always ways to save more anywhere you shop, right? Let’s look at a few ways to save at Trader Joe’s.
Bulk staples
Trader Joe’s offers a wide selection of staples you can buy in bulk.
You can stock up on pasta (a great selection), beans, rice (a great collection), and many other staples for a low price at Trader Joe’s. The bigger the bag, the bigger the bargain!
Samples
Try before you buy. It’s free and it saves you the pain and headache of purchasing an otherwise unwanted product.
Just ask a Trader Joe’s employee to help you out with a sample and let your taste buds decide for you.
Don’t like it? Take it back
There aren’t a lot of stores that allow you to return food items just because you didn’t like it. But Trader Joe’s will
You can return an item purchased at Trader Joe’s for any reason. Just save your receipt, take it back, and get a refund.
Use coupons
Can you use coupons at Trader Joe’s? Why, yes you can!
Most of Trader Joe’s products are their own but they do carry a few national brand items and those have manufacturer coupons that Trader Joe’s will take.
So, make sure you don’t miss out on using coupons on those items.
Discount gift cards
Save a few bucks by purchasing discounted gift cards online.
Online sites like Cardpool, Card Cash, and Gift Card Granny can save you as much 35% on your Trader Joe’s shopping trip.
Just purchase a discounted card and then use it for the full amount. If the card was for $25 and you paid $13, you can still use it for $25 in store, that’s a deal!
Trader Joe’s discounted cards go fast, though, so be sure to put an alert on your phone or check often to snag the best deals.
Get cash back
You can use apps like Ibotta to get cash back on your purchases at Trader Joe’s.
Make sure to check the deals on the apps before you head out to the store.
Then just upload your receipt after you visit Trader Joe’s and you can get cash back for your qualifying purchases.
If you don’t feel like going to the ATM… you can get cash up to $100. A great way to save those nasty fees!
BYO Bag
When you take your own reusable bag with you and spend $25 you get entered into a raffle to win $25.
Even if you don’t win the raffle, you can still pat yourself on the back for helping the environment.
This offer varies by store, so be sure to check with the manager on how it works at your store.
I also LOVE to collect Trader Joe’s reusable bags… there are so many fun and fabulous designs and they are so inexpensive compared to so many other reusable bags. So far I have 31 designs and counting.
Buy a banana
Sounds funny but the price of bananas hasn’t changed there in years. You can get a single banana for just $0.19.
Don’t have a family of 4 at home? Just you? Great! Grab 1 banana for just $0.19 – it’s like this deal was made just for you! Whatever number you need… it works but you no longer have to by that entire bunch.
Next time you head out to shop remember the tips you read here and be sure to use them and you’ll be a savvy Trader Joe’s customer!
Fearless Flyer
Everyone adores the Fearless Flyer! It’s a fabulous way to find out about new products… featured products… recommended products… favorite products and more! What I love is that you get a full description on the item and the price (which helps you with cost comparisons from other stores)! It’s also put together in such a creative way… simply irresistible!

You can save a bundle during the Holidays on little gifts for Teachers, Post Persons, Crossing Guards, Cashiers, and just anyone you want to give a little thank you to with the Trader Joe Line of Candies! They have INCREDIBLE Truffles, Candies, Little Specialty Boxes and even a Yard of Candy during the Holiday Season… some even come in cute tins… the prices vary from $2.99 – $9.99… BARGAIN!!! Then there is always their 1 pound Chocolate Bar that is always a WINNER! All of these items are great Stocking Stuffers too!
Flower Bouquets
Trader Joe’s has some of the most amazing Fresh Flowers and talk about affordable! I have all ready picked up a Sunflower Bouquet for $3.99 and I have never paid more than $7.99 for a beautiful mixed Bouquet. They make it affordable so you can treat yourself or bring someone special a smile.
Cards
Cards can be sooooooo expensive… I picked up a Christening Card the other day… nothing special… just a card and it was $5.00… the one that I really liked was $8.99 and it didn’t play music either lol!!! Well it’s not that I am cheap… but I would rather add that money to the gift… so off to Trader Joe’s!!! They have such incredible cards there … a fabulous variety by an array of such talented artists. So many of them are blank so you can write your own wishes. I guarantee you can find one for any occasion. They also look great framed. If your Wall Gallery is calling out to you to add something new… give TJ’s Cards a try!
Tip for Seasonal Items
Just a little heads up. If you are a regular at Trader Joe’s you know that they have some items that are totally Seasonal. Those items usually fly out of the store very quickly… so I highly recommend stocking up on them for the year! They have amazing Vegan Marshmallows but they only have them in the Summer (because of s’mores) but I LOVE them in my hot chocolate and to make Vegan Rice Krispies Treats with… so when they have them I stock up and there are tons more items like that. Their Baking Powder if fabulous but they only have that during the Holiday Season… so if you are a Baker… buy a few extra tins! There is one more items I want to mention… if you haven’t tried their Speculoos Cookie Butter… TRY IT and then stock up on it because it won’t be back until the following Holiday Season!
