It’s time for a Quick & Easy Farmhouse Buffalo Plaid Christmas Ornament DIY Craft & Free Printables that I know you will all love and want to make for your own tree!
Every Wednesday we meet here with a new craft! Today we are making these fun and oh so trendy Buffalo Plaid Christmas Tree Ornaments. With just a few supplies and some Buffalo Plaid Card Stock (we are giving you the Free Printable Buffalo Plaid Paper in Green, White and Red below) we will have you creating these cuties in no time.
First we start with our supplies: Mod Podge, Paint, Ribbon, Paint Brushes, Sandpaper, Buffalo Plaid Paper, Pen, Scissors, Glue Gun, Wooden Stars (I got them on Amazon) , Wooden Triangles and Branch Stumps. You can make the triangles any size you would like. We cut them out of 1/2 inch MDF and 1 inch pine. If you don’t have a saw… you can use foam core, cardboard, 1/4 inch balsa wood that you can cut with a X-acto blade. They are easy to cut. As far as the Buffalo Plaid Paper… I highly recommend printing on card stock. (printing tips below). For the stumps… we literally used branches from the yard and sliced them… they cut like butter or you can get wood slices at a local craft store.
After you cut your triangles… sand them nicely.
Time to paint the triangles and the stars in the colors of your choice!
Trace the triangles onto the back of the paper.
When you cut them out… cut a little bit outside the line. That makes lining up the paper easier and then…
brush the Mod Podge onto the back of the paper and apply to the wood. Allow it to dry. Once it is dry… trim it and then sand the sides until you get that nice distressed edge. You could add a little extra distressing on the plaid for a real vintage style Farmhouse look.
Time to top the tree with the star… I doubled layered the star but you can use a single star… a metal star… a glitter star… what ever topper your heart desires!
Now it is time to add the stump to the tree with your nifty hot glue gun!
Time to add your ribbon hook. Just cut the length you ant… glue the ends together and then glue the loop to the back of the tree…
and HANG!!!
Make them in all different sizes and decorated your Mantel… Shelves… Coffee Tables and more!
They make and fun Gift Topper!
They make cute little Stocking Stuffers to!
