20 cozy farmhouse decorating ideas, easy DIYs and late summer recipes to fill your home with simple seasonal charm today!
Hello, my friends! Welcome to another Saturday filled with beautiful homes, cozy decorating ideas, easy projects and a little something delicious too!
Can you feel it? We are right at that wonderful little place where Summer hasn’t quite packed her bags yet… but Fall is definitely knocking softly at the door. I don’t know about you, but I am not ready to cover every surface with pumpkins just yet! I love this slower approach… a few hydrangeas from the garden… some warmer colors… a cozy throw… maybe a pretty wreath… and suddenly the house just starts to feel a little bit different.
This week’s collection is especially wonderful because so many of these ideas do not require a big decorating budget. We are talking about clipping flowers and herbs from the garden… rearranging things we already own… pulling out thrifted treasures… changing a pillow cover… making art with leaves… adding a bowl of apples… and simply looking at our homes with fresh eyes.
So grab that favorite cup of coffee, get comfy and come browse with me… I think you are going to find more than a few ideas you will want to try!

Cozy Farmhouse Decorating Ideas & Easy DIYs
Beautiful late Summer into Fall inspiration, budget-friendly decorating ideas, natural touches and creative projects for making home feel warm and welcoming.

Cozy Fall Aesthetic
Oh my goodness… this is Fall coziness done so beautifully! Think warm lighting… vintage touches… rich Autumn colors… natural elements… soft blankets and all those little details that make you want to curl up and stay awhile. I especially love the reminder that some of the prettiest Fall decorating can come straight from Mother Nature… leaves, dried flowers, grasses and little treasures gathered outside cost practically nothing and can completely transform a room.

Touches Of Fall
This is exactly the kind of Fall decorating I am craving right now… just little whispers of the season tucked into an already beautiful room. A few seasonal stems… gorgeous hydrangeas… a cozy pumpkin pillow… nothing overwhelming and nothing that says we have to pack Summer away before we are ready! It is such a lovely reminder that a handful of thoughtful changes can be all a room needs.

Fall Home Decor
Here is another wonderful example of how we can welcome Fall without decorating every square inch of the house. Even simple things such as seasonal kitchen towels… a jar filled with cinnamon sticks… a vase of branches… or a tiny pumpkin arrangement can change the feeling of a space. Small changes… small expense… BIG cozy payoff!

Decorating With Hydrangeas
Hydrangea lovers… you are going to want to linger here for a while! Fresh… drying… dried or even a really beautiful faux bloom… these gorgeous flowers work in practically every room and they transition so effortlessly from Summer into Fall. If you happen to have them growing outside, a basket or vase filled with those changing late Summer blooms may be one of the prettiest free decorations you will ever bring into your home.

How To Make A Fall Centerpiece With Apples & Hydrangeas
Now THIS is my kind of centerpiece! Hydrangeas and apples come together to make the sweetest little arrangement that feels like the absolute perfect bridge between Summer and Fall. If you have hydrangeas in the yard and a few apples in the kitchen… you are already halfway there, my friends!

The Herb Wreath Your Kitchen Has Been Waiting For
I absolutely adore this one because it takes what may already be overflowing in the late Summer garden and turns it into something beautiful for the home! Oregano… sage… lavender… tarragon… dried flowers and even little peppers are layered onto a simple wreath form. The best part is that Mother Nature keeps working after you hang it because all those wonderful herbs slowly dry right on the wreath and become even more beautiful with time.

Nature Botanical Art Straight From The Garden
Talk about turning practically nothing into something that looks special! Fresh leaves… flowers and herbs become the printing tools for these beautiful botanical creations. Look around the garden for interesting leaf shapes and veins… add a little ink and paper… and suddenly you have artwork that could be grouped into a gorgeous little gallery wall. This is one I REALLY want our crafty friends to see!

Cottage Guest Room
What a sweet room! This cozy cottage guest room mixes florals… vintage inspired details… thrifted treasures… affordable new pieces and even free furniture to create a space that feels as though it has been lovingly collected over time. The entire room makeover came in around $1,000, which is a wonderful reminder that when we mix secondhand finds with what we already have, even a complete room transformation can be done without designer prices.

Ideas To Decorate The Kitchen Countertop
Sometimes we don't need to redecorate the kitchen… we simply need to rethink what is sitting on the counters! This is filled with wonderful ideas for keeping those hardworking surfaces pretty AND functional. One of my favorite little takeaways is using flowers… herbs… greenery or cuttings from the yard because even a few stems beside the sink can make the whole kitchen feel happier without costing a thing.

Coastal Grandmillennial Decor The Guide
If you love blue and white… wicker baskets… vintage pieces… pretty florals and rooms that feel collected instead of purchased all at once… you are going to enjoy this tour and guide! What I REALLY love is how beautifully this style works with secondhand finds. Wicker… rattan… old frames… vintage books… baskets and wonderful furniture pieces can often be found at thrift stores, estate sales and Marketplace for a fraction of what something new would cost.

Farm Fresh
Now we are going to do a little dreaming! This newly built Texas farmhouse… I would like mine in NJ please!… was designed to feel as though it had been sitting on the property forever, with local stone, beautiful rustic surroundings and that wonderful blend of comfort and Old World character. It may not be our little budget project of the week… but there are SO many details here that we can borrow on a much smaller scale.

Replacing Farmhouse White
Are those completely white farmhouse rooms beginning to change? It looks that way! Designers are warming things up with soft color… gentle blues… subtle pinks… natural wood and layers of texture rather than abandoning farmhouse coziness altogether. I actually love this evolution because sometimes one can of paint is all it takes to make an old room feel completely new again.

Farmhouse Decor Everyone Got Rid Of Is Starting To Look Good Again
Well my thrifting friends… aren't we glad we didn't throw EVERYTHING away! Vintage bottles… galvanized pieces… old drawer cabinets… metal café chairs… architectural salvage and some of those wonderfully useful farmhouse pieces are looking good again when they are used thoughtfully instead of filling the whole room. So before you pass that old farmhouse treasure at the thrift store… take another look and imagine it mixed into the home you have today.

Minimalist Fall Decor
This one proves that decorating for a season does not mean bringing home twelve shopping bags! Reuse pumpkins you already own… change a couple of pillow covers… add a cozy throw… switch the artwork or introduce one little seasonal touch. There are even ideas for inexpensive or free printable art… and I think we all know how I feel about THAT!

Why Decorate Just Once
I thought this was such a fun idea! Instead of creating one Fall look and leaving it untouched for three months… this home gets little changes as the season moves along from early Fall into Halloween and then into November. You certainly don't have to redecorate from scratch each time… just moving things around and rotating what you already own can make the same little corner feel fresh again.
SourceA Little Something Delicious
You know I couldn’t send you off on a Saturday without a few delicious ideas too! We are still enjoying all those wonderful late Summer fruits and vegetables… so let’s make the most of them while we can.

Breakfast Burrito
This looks like one seriously satisfying breakfast! Potatoes… eggs… cheese… spinach… peppers and all kinds of goodness are tucked into a warm tortilla, and you can even use frozen hash browns when you want to save yourself some prep time. These can also be made ahead and frozen… which makes them fabulous for busy mornings when everybody needs something substantial and FAST!

Watermelon Feta Salad
Before those wonderful watermelons disappear… make this! Sweet juicy watermelon… creamy feta… fresh mint and a little balsamic glaze create that sweet and salty combination that just screams Summer. It only takes a handful of ingredients and would be absolutely wonderful beside a simple veggie burger or tucked onto a table for one last Summer gathering.

Couscous Arugula Salad With Balsamic Vinaigrette
Fresh cherries… peppery arugula… couscous… pistachios… goat cheese and balsamic vinaigrette… YES PLEASE! This is one of those salads that is substantial enough to actually feel like a meal while still being fresh and light. Such a beautiful way to enjoy cherries while they are still around!

Delicious Zucchini Recipes from that Huge Late Summer Harvest!
And then there is ZUCCHINI! If your garden is currently producing enough zucchini to feed the entire neighborhood… I have you covered! From stuffed zucchini and zucchini fries to soups… noodles… bakes and lasagna… there are tons of delicious vegetarian ways to use that late Summer harvest instead of letting one precious zucchini go to waste.

Cherry Pineapple Cooler
Let's end with something cold and refreshing in our glass! Fresh cherries… pineapple juice… lime and bubbly ginger ale make this such a cheerful late Summer sipper. You can serve it as a mocktail exactly as it is… which sounds pretty perfect to me for one of those warm August afternoons on the porch.
SourceMake Home Feel Good to You
I hope you found a little something here that made you smile… inspired you to move a few things around… clip something beautiful from the garden… pull an old treasure out of the cupboard… or maybe simply make yourself something delicious.
Remember… creating a beautiful home has never been about buying everything new. Sometimes the sweetest changes come from a basket we already own… flowers growing outside the back door… a five dollar thrift store treasure… a different pillow cover… or simply seeing something familiar in a brand new way.
That is what I love most about Cottage Farmhouse Style… it doesn’t have to be perfect and it certainly doesn’t have to be expensive.
Make your home the place that feels good to YOU… and enjoy every little moment as Summer slowly starts handing the season over to Fall.
Sending you tons of hugs and wishing you the most wonderful weekend!
