Hello, my friends! We are back with another week of ALDI Finds…and this week the Aisle of Shame is beginning to look delightfully spooky while the rest of the store is wrapping us in everything warm and cozy!
The new Finds arriving September 9 include cheerful ghosts…adorable Halloween inflatables…soft shawl blankets…Fall kitchen towels…sweet little gifts for the children and plenty of fabulous foods.
I also taste tested eight affordable snacks for us this week and every single one earned a Worth It verdict. I know…that almost never happens! One chocolate bar was so fabulous that it inspired our entire recipe.
Our vegetarian meal for under $15 is Chocolate Hazelnut Stuffed Brioche French Toast with Caramelized Cinnamon Bananas. It serves four…takes about 25 minutes…and feels much more extravagant than its $14.02 shopping total.

The price per ounce is higher than the other snacks, but the twelve ready to grab packs earn their place through convenience. They are portioned…portable…and easy to toss into a bag or desk drawer. When busy days are the problem, these are a very practical answer. WORTH IT $8.79 for 12 packs, 10.8 oz

The Choceur Milk Chocolate with Almonds and Hazelnut Spread Bar is my winner this week. It is creamy…crunchy…chocolaty and absolutely fabulous. Chocolate Hazelnut Stuffed Brioche French Toast with Caramelized Cinnamon Bananas
Approximately $14.02 for the complete ALDI shopping list Breakfast for dinner just became the most exciting meal of the week! Thick, tender brioche is stuffed with chopped milk chocolate…creamy hazelnut spread and crunchy almonds. Then it is dipped in a cinnamon vanilla custard…cooked until golden…and topped with bananas sautéed in butter and dark brown sugar. The bananas are sliced a little thinner because that is how I love them. They caramelize quickly…stay tender…and give you a little buttery banana goodness in every bite. A dusting of powdered sugar makes the whole plate feel restaurant worthy. This serves four generously and is ready in about 25 minutes. Best of all, the full packages needed for the recipe total only $14.02 at ALDI. Ingredients
- 8 slices Specially Selected brioche
- 1 1/2 to 2 Choceur Milk Chocolate with Almonds and Hazelnut Spread Bars, finely chopped
- 3 large pasture raised eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
- 2 small pinches salt, divided
- 4 tablespoons butter, divided, plus a little more if needed
- 4 bananas, sliced thinly on the diagonal
- 1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
- Powdered sugar for serving
Directions
- Finely chop the chocolate bars so the filling melts evenly.
- Arrange 4 slices of brioche on your work surface. Divide the chocolate among the slices, leaving about a 1/2 inch border around the edges. Use 1 1/2 bars for a balanced filling or all 2 bars if you want them extra gooey.
- Top with the remaining 4 slices of brioche and press the edges very gently to help each sandwich stay together.
- In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and a small pinch of salt.
- Warm a large skillet or griddle over medium low heat. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter over the cooking surface.
- Quickly dip each sandwich into the custard, coating both sides without letting it soak too long. Brioche absorbs liquid very quickly.
- Cook the sandwiches for 3 to 4 minutes per side until deeply golden and the chocolate filling is melted. Work in batches if needed, adding a little more butter to the pan. Keep the finished sandwiches warm in a 200°F oven.
- While the French toast cooks, slice the bananas thinly on the diagonal.
- In a clean skillet, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat. Stir in the dark brown sugar, remaining 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and the final small pinch of salt.
- Add the banana slices in a single layer. Cook for 30 to 60 seconds per side, turning carefully, until glossy and caramelized but not mushy.
- Cut each stuffed French toast sandwich diagonally. Spoon the warm caramelized bananas and buttery brown sugar sauce over the top. Finish with powdered sugar and serve immediately.
Tips for a Fabulous Finish
- Keep the heat at medium low so the brioche turns golden while the chocolate has time to melt.
- Choose bananas that are ripe but still firm. Very soft bananas can fall apart in the skillet.
- That open border around the chocolate helps keep the wonderful filling inside the sandwich.
- A fast dip is all the brioche needs. Letting it sit in the custard can make it too delicate to move.
- For a beautiful chocolate reveal, wait one minute after cooking and then slice each sandwich on the diagonal.
